COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Description from BSF progamme at GBBF 2006:

Head brewer Sergio Ormea uses local craft honey to flavour this exciting golden strong honey ale. Very good with calf, chicken, rabbit, and turkey, but absolutely perfect with cakes.

No head; orange-golden beer. "Interesting" nose, with musk, and stale or rancid hazelnut oil. Again hazelnut oil, if less rancid, in the taste. Toffee, not really sweet. Thin bodied, very slick all the same. Hazelnut oil (or the honey?) wrecks it, if not completely. OK to say that a beer is perfect for roast and cakes, but it ought to be kept drinkable on its own as well.

Bottle in Rome. Clear amber beer, no real head. Dry crispy palate. Sweet malt with a mild toffee streak. Really not getting much in the way of hops. Some caramel in the finish. An okay sweet malty beer.

Blond body, white creamy head. Aroma of caramel, hops, raspberries, wine and ... urine (but fortunately diminishing). Moderately bitter, lightly sweet flavour which is quite nice contrary to the aroma. Still not great, somewhat out of balance.

Koelschtrinker (7060) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - MAY 23, 2011

Bottle from GBBF, day 5 on 5 August 2006 (noted at 6.8%). Hazy orange colour. Light honey aroma. Smooth, sweetish but with some sour notes (slight infection?). Quite interesting.

A Mes rate. Bottle at LCRBM #5.
Hazy dark yellow with a good off white head. Cakey malt and some tangerine hops. Sweet and yeasty finish. Slight infection but it’s tolerable.

Bottle at LCRBM5. Funky farmyard, Infected I thought. Flavour of a pale ale. Perhaps I was hard on it, but I thought that this was pretty poor

Bottle (courtesy of JorisPPattyn): Deep golden, hazy, small foamy layer; stronger "woody" hoppy nose with some lambic-like flavours(lemons, orange peel, lactic acid) moderate to solid sweet-sourish flavour, soft MF, medium to full bodied; sweet sourish-fruity and hoppy finish. Quite O.K..........

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass is light yellow, turbid, small head. Quite sourish aroma. Starts the same, quite sourish, notes of lemon and apricot, some wood. Finish more and more mild. Okay.
