COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Pours a dark chestnut brown color with some dark amber chocolate brown hues when held to a light source with a thick 2 finger frothy tan head with good retention that slowly settles into a lasting cap. Sporadic spots of soapy lacing. Spicy peppery aroma with some estery Belgian yeast notes that give off a lot of dark fruit. Hints of raisin, grape, plum and fig with a bit of nutty malt and alcohol. Very quaffable medium body with lots of spice, dark fruit notes and smooth malt character. Hints of dark cherry, grape, plum, raisin and fig along with some peppery spice, chocolate malt and hazelnut. The sweetness of the dark fruit and the smooth maltiness are very well balanced and the ABV is very well masked without a trace of alcohol heat. Very complex and quaffable.

UPDATED: NOV 28, 2008 A very nice surprise of a beer. Shared by a friend with others at the Gingerman. A sour nose with butter-y sweet oak sugar. Definitely comes of as a high gravity sour. Taste has some more calming factors. I get a lot of what I can attach to maybe chestnuts. Its earthy and lightly sour as well. A bit ashy but not roasty. Some nice and original aspects.

Pretty pour with a strong frothy head on a purplish, orange-ish, dark copper body. Aroma is sour fruit and esters. Comes of as wild strawberries. Taste is similar with a but of a earthy, black tea bite. A bit of a bitterness at the end of the flavor to round it off. Ample carbonation is felt on the tongue, which helps to offset the slightly alcoholic heft to the brew. These Italians know how to make a damn original beer.

Generously shared at Ginger Man. Pale amber beer with no head. A lightly tart aroma over some soft light caramel. There is a prominent fruitiness as well. A bit of cherry. Flavour is lightly candyish with a lean and lightly estery note at the same time. A kiss of soft peach/apricot fruitiness over a light fruitiness. Just a hint of oakiness over the soft sweetness. It don’t taste like chestnuts, but it does taste good.

UPDATED: JUL 12, 2010 Bottle, once at a tasting and once at Swift. Pours a cloudy, light brown with a substantial white head. Nose is all spice and sweet malt. Flavor is dynamic and mostly sweet. Lots of honey and chestnut, along with some less discernable spices. Nice and pretty unique.

Ale brewed with chesnuts. Very frothy and lively, refuses to stay in the glass! Cloudy brown colour with a biscuit coloured head with brown bits (chesnuts?) in it. Surprisingly fruity. Crisp with a sharp effervescense. Nice malty chesnut mid and finish. Dry crisp finish. Unusual and tasty beer.

Una buona birra dal sapore ricco ed equiibrato. Al palato è molto profumata, colpisce subito a colpi di miele e di castagna. Una volta scesas lacia un amaro molto piacevole e un senso dii pulizia.

A hazed reddish copper ale with a thin lacing light mocha head. In aroma, a nice sweet spiced malt with dark fruits, banana esters, light smokey notes, very nice. In mouth, a nice peaty malt with prunes, bananas, a bit of cloves, rich and smooth. On tap at Birreria, Dec. 27 2011.

Smells of alcohol, caramel. Reddish amber, no head. Nutty, woody, sweet. Caramel, cinnamon, pepper. Finishes sightly sweet and sticky.
