COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

In short: Caramelized roasted nuts in a bottle. Decent beer
How: From a bottle at Mondial De La Bière 2012
The look: Clear copper body topped by a tiny beige ring of foam
In long: Nose is roasted nuts, a bit of caramel and some phenols. Taste is like drinking caramelized roasted nuts. Very crunchy/husky maltiness sensation. There is also a spiciness sensation. Some wooden notes. Carbonation is a lot of small hard bubbles that made it hard to keep it the mouth, I think this beer could be really nice with softer bubbles. My last beer at Mondial 2012 festival, I had so much to drink during this week of Mondial+pubs festivities that when the week was over I thought that maybe not drinking beer for a few days could do me some good, but I guess we’ll never know.

Bottle. A beer made with chestnuts, so naturally i found some nutty characters, in both aroma and flavour. Alcohol is fairly well noticed, and as dorquie mentions gives it a hint of liquer type qualities. Some subtle caramel, with a touch of woody dryness. Quite interesting.

Bottle. Pours hazy mahogany with large beige head. The aroma is sweet caramel with a distinct nuttiness and a few acidic fruit notes. The flavor is, well, chestnut, with a caramel sweetness behind it. There’s a bit of a leafy hop bitterness around, too. The finish is tree fruit and light caramel. Kind of predictable, but decent.

Amber. Long, foamy head. Aroma: Rye, alcahol, caramel. Flavor: Malt, dry fruits, rye, alcahol, spice. Dry finish. There is a certain complexity to this brew and I am not sure if I like it or not. For a nation better known for its wine, Italy is starting to be known for some of the best beers near the equater. From one who has been there: Viva Napoli for what you can do.

shigadeyo (2973) - Harrison, Ohio, USA - JUL 28, 2009

Late June/Early July 2008: Strada S. Felice has a stong, fragrant chesnut aroma that also has a sour, fruity alt edge to it. The beer is the color of honey as is the foamy head that slowly dissipates. There is some sediment in the beer as well. It tastes toasty and nutty. There is also tart fruitiness in the flavor. This beer is stong and malty with a balanced bitterness and a slightly dry finish. It has a medium body and is smooth despite the high amount of carbonation. This beer isn’t too bad; I like the uniqueness of the chesnuts.

1 pint 9.4 fl. oz. flip-top bottle (8% Alc/Vol) shared by Tmoney99. Thanks Tom! Rating #55 for this beer.

Bottle from GBBF 09. Hazy copper with a small head. Refined nutty caramel aroma. Sweet tastes that give way to nutty flavours, ending semi-sweet. Some spiciness. Not at all bad.
