2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
May 2009: Cheap 50cl can from supermarket chain ’Llidl’, poured into a Franziskaner Weissbier glass (the only type I’ve got).
Looked OK, a normal murky, cloudy hefeweiss with no head and plenty of carbonisation to see rising up to the top.
The typical vanilla and banana smells were there at the start but faded somewhat during the tasting.
It was a little metallic in the taste, the flavours were there but it wasn’t as refreshing or tangy as the better beers in this style.
A bit on the thin side and weak throughout the tasting.
Cheap and weak sums this beer up.

Pale orange cloudy with white rocky head. Aromas wheat, grains, some clove , banana. Palate medium bodied, watery thin with smooth carbonation and mouth feel. MIddletaste wheaty, little yeasty, fruity and leathery. Aftertaste sweet malts, woody with hints of dry in there. Pretty flavourless hefeweisen, nothing special, drinkable.

Looks pretty good. Looks like a hefe should. Dirty orange and hazy. White head. Aroma of banana and gum. Flavour is wheaty. It has gum flavour too. Flavour turns out to be rather flat. This is some rather watery stuff too.

When I saw this bottle at the local market I had to laugh a bit. .33 euro cent and I didn’t think it would be drinkable but i’m slightly suprised. Smell was a bit citrus with a bit of sour and mild sweet. Pours a cloudy golden color that’s nice with a white medium head. Taste is better than smell but still below average. I’ve had drain pours before but this is not one. Drinkable but not great.
