Cask at Smithfield Hotel, Manchester. A brown beer with a lazing tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, bread, and caramel as well as lighter notes of spices and cellery. The flavor is sweet iwth strong notes of caramel as well as medium notes of malt and lighter notes of straw and nuts, leading to a dry nutty finish.

Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, burnt, notes of smoke - peat, licorice notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a long to average duration, and a dry finish. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is flat to soft. [20090122]
