Cask (gravity dispense) at Pigs Ear Beer Festival, December 2008. Not sure whether this is a one-off or an annual Christmas release. I was expecting something seasonal but this was actually a relatively pale golden amber beer with little discernible Christmas character (whatever that is). Not much condition. The aroma had some toasty malt but also a moist, clammy character that was not too appealing. Better on the palate. Fair amount of estery fruit in the flavour. Reasonably warming in that the alcohol was hotter than the ABV would suggest. Fairly light mouthfeel. Gave me the impression of a watered down barley wine. Seemed a bit green, or otherwise not in top condition. Re-rate if possible.
