3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: FEB 28, 2012 The Grain Belt name suffers a blow with this entry. While this beer is OK, one can only feel shame for bringing low the the spotless moniker of this once proud franchise. I would drink this again, if I was out of Hamms, Blatz, grain Belt Premium, and/or Pabst. Otherwise, not so much. Grain Belt should profit by sticking to its cheap roots & quit trying to entice the "beer snob" market. Look what that stategy has done for Blatz: an unsulllied and proud name that brooks no insubordination and is still after 150+ years ON TOP of the Beer pantheon. Don’t question it.

2.2 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
A much anticipated release from Schell’s’ newly acquired Grain Belt brand...
A - looks just as any amber should: amber.... thin head/lacing that doesn’t wait around for you.
S - smells metallic, very reminiscent of "primo" plus some extra umph... bit more malty.
T - tastes decent for what it is... copper, oats, nothing too exciting really.
M - feels spot-on, thin but appropriately carbonated.
O - overall a decent brew for the price point, perhaps a step up from the run of the mill premium.

TAP and BOTTLE. Pour is dark yellow/light orange. Aroma of brown sugar/caramel malts and grain. Taste is sweet (but not too sweet) and mild.

Extra tossed in by the good folks at France 44. Moses, this is ass though. Watery pale amber pour with a nose of pure corn syrup. Bland in every way, like movie theater popcorn crossed with BMC.

I can think of a lot worse beers than this, but its a go to only when a bar has a lack of craft and an over abundace of cruddy pale lagers. Light amber pour with small white head. Tastes a little fruity like grain belt, just a but darker.

(12oz bottle dated 5-28-11 thanks to swalden28) clear copper with thick lasting cola-like head. Nose of brown sugar, fresh cracked grain and melon. Taste of old grain, bit caramel, watery, cracker and cream.

This is my third beer from this brewery. Trader Joe sell some of thier beers. We are in Wonewok resort for 3M. This is the beer that they have on tap. The color is a clear amber and pours with a frothy head. The beer is sweeter than I like. Some caramel and very little hops. Neutral finish.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Serving glass: Poured from tap into Pint glass.
Appearance: Burnished amber with just a light head and not much lacing.
Aroma: Light caramel malts - not much else.
Taste: Just barely sweet caramel grainy malts are the highlight, with a very, very light hop finish. Not much complexity, but appreciate the lower sweetness.
Palate: Moderate carbonation, surprisingly ample smooth body for a low abv lager.
Overall: Maybe not much going on, but it is well constructed and easy to kick back. Better than the standard Grain Belt.

Meh, nothing fancy here. Like a lot of Schell’s beers pretty bland. Oh well.
