COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Local legends aren’t just born, they’re brewed. And no beer in the Midwest has a grander brewing tradition than Grain Belt. For over 100 years, Grain Belt has been the beer that fathers have passed on to sons and friends have passed amongst each other at local bars and watering holes. It is a beer with tradition that spans generations. Which is why it has become legendary–both here and across the country.

In the 1940s, around the same time Grain Belt built its famous bottle cap sign overlooking the Mississippi River in Northeast Minneapolis, they introduced a “Beer of Exceptional Quality”–Premium. With its crisp, unique flavor, Premium quickly became the flagship of the Grain Belt brand. And still is to this day.

Although the Grain Belt Premium recipe has changed hands over the years, one thing has remained the same–its legendary unique taste. And now that Premium is in the capable hands of a brewery with an even longer tradition than Grain Belt–the August Schell Brewery–may you rest assured that the flavor and heritage of Premium will live on forever.

So as a local legendary beer, we raise a glass to all the people, places and things that make the Midwest such a rich and unique place to live. Here’s to you!

UPDATED: JAN 21, 2005 Crystal clear, golden, white head. Head quickly fades to a thin sheet. A little darker than the American Macrolagers. A bit of an apple aroma, with some hops in there. About as average a "beer" flavor as it gets. Not too bad for a pale lager. I’d drink this everyday if i could get it. Thanks lady friend.

While this beer wasn’t bad, it didn’t have any distinguishable qualities. It was light in colour, thin in body, and had little aroma. About the only thing it has going for it is the fact you can pound them donw pretty quickly. It might be a good thirst quencher in the summer, though.

I live in Wisconsin and my brother in law brought some to Wisconsin. He told me I would like it and I did. While it wasn’t really anything impressive to the nose it was really a very delightful fruity experience. If you are ever in Minnesota give this a try.

It’s hard to rate a lawnmower beer like this because I rarely drink them. But compared to most of the stuff from the big brewers, this would be a nice alternative. A good regional brand that I heard once was in danger of going away.

Clear bottle. The sickliest pale yellow I have ever seen. A relatively thick head. Aroma of corn and, I kid you not, strawberries and cinnamon! Taste was sweet and fruity with corn and peaches. A strange beer for a pale lager.

bottle-This is one of the best american standards i have ever had. pours a pale yellow with mild carbonation. Some noble hop characeristics in the aroma-slight grain/corn/ grass thing going. even with a clear bottle, the beer was not skunked (must have been a fresh sample). This would be the perfect college beer!!! Thanks to GrainBeltGuzzler for this one

out of a bottle, light yellow with thin white head. Some hops on the nose, but there is also a skunkiness to this beer. All in all though if I were looking for a cheap beer to have at a party, this would definitely be a candidate.

One of the better, lower priced beers. Not as good as it was when bottled by MN Brewing but still a local favorite.

Carbonation is the key to this beer. This flaxen lager attacks ones very soul with striking sapidity, a bubbly effervescence, and an effluvious yet honeyed redolence. This beer produces an aura of conviviality among all who imbibe.

Golden color with a fizzy head. Semi-sweet aroma with some dusty hops. The taste is of sweet malts. This really isn’t bad at all; by far one of the better swills.
