COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Local legends aren’t just born, they’re brewed. And no beer in the Midwest has a grander brewing tradition than Grain Belt. For over 100 years, Grain Belt has been the beer that fathers have passed on to sons and friends have passed amongst each other at local bars and watering holes. It is a beer with tradition that spans generations. Which is why it has become legendary–both here and across the country.

In the 1940s, around the same time Grain Belt built its famous bottle cap sign overlooking the Mississippi River in Northeast Minneapolis, they introduced a “Beer of Exceptional Quality”–Premium. With its crisp, unique flavor, Premium quickly became the flagship of the Grain Belt brand. And still is to this day.

Although the Grain Belt Premium recipe has changed hands over the years, one thing has remained the same–its legendary unique taste. And now that Premium is in the capable hands of a brewery with an even longer tradition than Grain Belt–the August Schell Brewery–may you rest assured that the flavor and heritage of Premium will live on forever.

So as a local legendary beer, we raise a glass to all the people, places and things that make the Midwest such a rich and unique place to live. Here’s to you!

Clear light gold color small head, terrible aroma, very light corn taste, just a touch of malt sweetness. You can tell its not a light but its not as good as any Miller product. The 4th lowest rating I've given a beer.

12 oz bottle pours pale yellow with a white head. Aroma is not there. Taste is malt and really nothing premium. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pale yellow gold, disgusting film of a white head. Lightstruck skunk mixed with corn and grainyness in the aroma. Tastes like watery urine strained through a filter of used bandaides. Finish is dry and watery with a hint of rice adjunct. Mouthfeel is light and somewhat watery.

I drink as much "American" beer as I can but I don’t think I will giving this swill another try. If you don’t care about taste (or your taste buds), then please go ahead and give this a try. It had a metallic taste... and I was drinking it from the tap. All that I need to say that this is the pride of MN.

This beer looked nice, and had adequate carbonation, thoughthe head dissappaited rapidly. That was about it. Very watery mouth feel. What little taste was there was pleasant, but not a strong enough taste to warrant buying again.

A bottle of refined urine would do the trick. This stuff is ok to say the least. FGood thing it was free (thanks to bro-in-law on leave!) Was bland, then had a strong after taste. Made me think of eating the urinal mint.

12 oz bottle at Stinkey’s - So, I’m at my class reunion in my hometown. I’ve been drinking Old Style (because I didn’t want an Old Milwaukee Light), and I tell the waitress I want to try something different. She says "How about Schlitz?" I say OK. She comes back and says they are out of Schlitz, but she has a Grain Belt, a Schmidt, and a Hamms. I try the grain belt. I swear she was just trying to get rid of all the crappy beer in the cooler. It looked like urine in a clear bottle. I could barely choke it down. Maybe I got an old bottle, but I’m not going to be trying it anytime soon. Worst beer I’ve ever had.

Grain Belt is another beer most of the guys I went to high school drank because they thought it was cool. Years later I can tell you nothing about this will ever make you cool. Nothing but Swill.
