   AROMA 4/10   APPEARANCE 2/5   TASTE 7/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 11/20
Alengrin (1742) - BELGIUM - AUG 22, 2014
Dubbel with light beige, thin but stable, creamy and sticky head and very dark wine-reddish brown colour, clear with large (but not too scary) protein flakes. Malty aroma unfortunately dominated by H2S (rotten egg), which ruins it for the blueberry, brown sugar, pear, bayleaf, coriander and banana impressions. Fruity, sweet taste with sourish accent probably due to the bacterial infection also responsible for the H2S; malty, caramelly, resinous, liquorice touch, very light roastedness in the finish, bit thin. Could have been better without the infection and with a little more aromatic hops, perhaps.

Een heel lekker bier met een goede volle smaak. Echt een aanrader om eens te proberen

33cl bottle courtesy of and shared with Kermis. Thin creamy off white head. Slight gusher. Murky dark amber pour. Something a bit off in the aftertaste

Trappist1 (495) - Diest, BELGIUM - MAR 13, 2014
From tap @ Delirium. Light brownish, dark amber color with a beige head. Nose: caramel, speculoos, but nose is subdued. Taste: malts, brown chocolate, bit of spices in the back. MF: wattery body, missing on the punch. Overall, good, enjoyable beer.

Dark caramel. Sweet, some toffee, syrup dominates. Also some salt liquorice. Ends rather abrupt

Bottle shared with McTapps and bought at Stassenvin in Aubel. Nice one with lots of fluffiness and hoppy sweetish start. Some caramel and vanilla in the aroma. At the end a bit sour and watery. But to rate this one is not difficult. Just a solid and good beer.
