2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 DeanF (1489) - Iqaluit, - OCT 31, 2009
Pours with an okay colour and a just-average head. Smells of fruity malts, slight alcohol hint. Taste is a mix of malts, grassiness, syrup. Okay lacing on the glass, but this is nothing special.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 15, 2012
25cl Brown bottle, best before 28 Sept 2012, drank 30 Dec 2010. Poured into my ’La Chouffe’ stemmed tulip glass.
Clear amber body with a huge snowy white head on top.
The smell was very sweet, molasses and a mix of Christmassy spices.
The taste followed the smell, almost too sweet for me (and I prefer maltier, semi-sweeter beers). As the beer warmed it seemed to get sweeter, so if you do find one and drink it, drink it fast!
Not overly impressed and if this is their ’Special Noel’ I wouldn’t want to try their ’Normal Noel’.
3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 erickok (1086) - Leiden, NETHERLANDS - NOV 17, 2011
Clear, amber coloured beer with quite firm white head. Somewhat astringent aroma with bready notes, some pear, pilsner smell, sweaty, harsh yeast, pepper corns and alcohol. Taste is much better with sweet malty base and spicy, herbal aftertaste. Smooth and sticky body. Overall a bad start but much more drinkable towards the end.
