2nd February 2012 Cask at the Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival. Shared with Keen. Clear deep amber beer. Good pale cream coloured bubbly head. Smooth palate, slightly dry. Well balanced sweet strong malt with lovely strong orangey hops, fresh and slightly spicy - nettley. A little bubblegum in the semi dry finish. Very tasty and hugely drinkable. Very good indeed!

Cask at the Grape and Grain Autumn beer festival 2011, Crystal Palace. Mahogany coloured pour, no head. Calvados apple aroma with a spot of treacle and toffee. Rich flavours of bonfire toffee and treacle. Long sweet finish. Warms the cockles.

Cask Conditioned handpump Malt Shovel Northampton. A mahogany coloured beer with a whitish head. This is a seriously enjoyable beer. Boozy, yeasty and fruity. Cranberry notes and cake. Quite warming although definitely one for quaffing rather than sipping. Pretty sweet but with a spicy edge. Really very tasty and serious.

A Sim rate (cask at the White Horse): Brandy and malt in the aroma. Hugely brandy and malt again in the flavour with a slight berry/cherry. Very alcoholic and too too strong-tasting.

Cask@Leicester Beer Festival 2007. Brown beer with a malty aroma and a malty and syrupy flavour. Overall a nice beer.

Dover Beer Fest. Heavy and sweet. Some fruit and some hop, but mostly a blunt assault of alcohol malt. Stack ’em high and sell ’em cheap.

Cask (gravity dispense) at White Cliffs Beer Festival, February 2006. Reddish colour. Distinct caramel and toffee on the nose. Joined by licorice and plummy fruit in the flavours. Fairly sweet. Nice enough but didn’t blow me away. I think I expected something rather bigger and more assertive.

Cask@The White Horse, Parsons Green, SWLondon. Quite a sticky barley sweetness. Wholemeal grain and toffee characters, with not a lot of hop in the finish. Some noticable alcohol. Quite warming, but to sticky, malty for me.
