Cask at the Rupert Brooke, Rugby, 17/04/13. Mahogony brown with a good sized beige head that retains well. Good lacing ensues. Nose is dark malt, very light roast, toffee, touch of smoke. Taste is malt forward, dark toffee fudge, sugars, mineral notes, barley, dark fruits, biscuit. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, smooth and plesant on the palate. Decent enough fayre, but coming over as more of an ESB to me than a stout.

UPDATED: AUG 25, 2013 At Rutland Beer Festival ... Appearance of coca-cola (minus the gas). Very toffee smell (lovely!) warm orange and toffee taste. No bitterness (unlike at spoons last time I tried.) Much better

Cask at NWAF, 2011. Brown pour with a beige head. Raisins, pear, red apples and peach in the nose. Very fruity. Crisp apple bite in the flavour, definitely an orchard fruit feel to it. Unsurprisingly a fruity finish.

Cask Handpump at The Venue, Miles Platting 19/01/2011 Fruity aroma. Small white head. Mid brown coloured a little rich and sweet on the palate with a hint of spiciness in a peppery malt finish.

Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Mahogany with tan head. Heavy darkly roasted malts with a bitter chocolate character, some liquorice, chalkiness with just a hint of hop in the finish.

UPDATED: JUN 21, 2013 Cask Conditioned Handpump Bold Dragoon Weston Favell. A dark ruby coloured beer with a whitish head. The aroma has fruit cream and caramel. The taste is nice and malty with chocolate caramel and fruit. Nice and thick in the mouth. Very much like an old ale in its profile. Score 3.7

Cask at Ealing beer fest 2009. Deep ruby pour with small head. Roasty aroma. Hints of caramel, slight bitterness. A well balanced flavourful fruity beer.

Cask - Planet Thanet Beer Festival ’09. Pours a deep ruby red colour with a fine off-white head. Fruity aromas and hints of alcohol with a slight bitterness. Sweet malty frutiness on the palate and I detected some alcohol in the short but smooth finish. Slightly carbonated mouthfeel but a smooth body. A nice drinking beer!

Cask at White Cliffs BF 09. Ruby/chestnut colour, thin beige head. Great condition. It’s a bit toasty, good beer. Not that bad. Decent sting on end. Tasty and toasty.

Cask @ CAMRA NWAF ’14. Pours a dark ruby brown. Scent of mulled spice and savoury herbs. Malty sweet taste, heavy on the herbiness. Not great, started out ok but got very sickly very quickly.
