Cask HP at Hamilton Hall as ’Grainstore Rutland Beast Special Edition’, 5.3%. Dark brown with an amber hue, still, small scummy beige head, light lacing. Aroma is chocolate malt, demerara. Body is smooth, soft carbonation, a little oily. Taste is thin molasses and dates, a little phenolic dental rinse, freshly polished leather, maybe some over-toasted nuts The astringency balances the sweetness nicely. A solid offering.

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. A dark chestnut pour with a tight cream head; nutty aroma with some well roasted malts in the background; silky smooth in the mouth with a creamy toffee taste and a hint of earthy chocolate malt; then a light spicy bitterness before a satisfying syrupy finish. Excellent.

Gravity at the National Winter Ales Festival in Derby. Ruby with a thin cream head. Sweet with notes of blackcurrant and liquorice. Quite an odd tasting beer. Pleasant though.
