This is our tribute to the black iron that paved the way to get to the Grand Canyon. Black Iron is a high hopped, fragrant ale that is as deep and as wide as the Grand Canyon itself!

Had at Flannys annv party. Based on the name I was expecting a black IPA but it is just your traditional American golden IPA. Decent level of hop bitterness. Some garlic notes. Was a good beer but not a great beer.

Can from Sun Devil Liquors. Pours Orange with a thin white head that has really good retention. a really slight citrus hop on the note. As others have mentioned it’s really biscutiy on the tongue. if you really focus you can get a citrus bit. It’s hard to talk about the finish when the beer never ever starts.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Smooth, light orange and fizzy with a decent off white head on top. Hoppy but not too bitter, but all together, forgettable. Could be smoother, but a beer is a beer my friend.

On draft at the brewpub. Pours a clear copper with an off white head. Grassy hop nose. More biscuit than hops in the flavor. Not a prime example of the style.

This brew is a clear golden color with a thick off-white head that evaporates slowly. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, pine and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of earthy hops, grainy malt and fruit. The finish is moderately bitter with a piney hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Can, extra from trade with my friend Randy in Arizona. Mess of a pour. Cloudy light orange pour with ridiculously big foamy head that fades slowly. Aroma is flowers and corn syrup. Taste is sugary sweet and fruity with lots of flowers too. Light bitterness. Not sure how they call this an IPA, way too sweet and not enough hops.

With black in the aroma I figured on a black IPA. Not the case. A standard IPa in color/aroma with a bit more malt in the boday than I really like. Mostly it’s just okay. Some late hops leave a good bitterness in the aftertaste.

Poured from can, clear and pale-golden. Light head dissipated quickly, light lacing. Pleasant aroma is floral with some pine, not very strong. Excellent taste, sweet caramel and fresh hops. Not exceptional, but very decent highly drinkable brew. ---Rated whilst imbibing
