This is our tribute to the black iron that paved the way to get to the Grand Canyon. Black Iron is a high hopped, fragrant ale that is as deep and as wide as the Grand Canyon itself!

More malty than hoppy IPA. Surprisingly good malty backbone however. Nice mouthfeel. The IPA-ness comes in more from the citrusy and floral overtones than any bitterness. This is a good introduction to the style and also for those who are not partial to them. But hopheads will be disappointed. Overall, good!! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Enjoyable IPA. From a can into a tulip-style glass, pours orange with a solid line of white foamy head. Nice aroma of hops, citrus, floral. Flavor matches, but starting with malts, with a mild hoppy kick. Medium bodied.

Poured from can, clear and pale-golden. Light head dissipated quickly, light lacing. Pleasant aroma is floral with some pine, not very strong. Excellent taste, sweet caramel and fresh hops. Not exceptional, but very decent highly drinkable brew. ---Rated whilst imbibing

Can from Adam, You da man Tooch! Pours a hazy amber with an ebony head. Citrusy hop aroma. Medium bodied with a minerally texture. Pale malt stands behind a juicy and acidic bitterness. Dry finish. Not bad at all

A vigorous pour into my Bruery Tulip produces a two finger thick, pale tan tinged head that leaves lots of lacing on the sides of my glass. The beer is a pale amber color that shows a brilliantly clear, bright copper / gold-tinged hue when held up to the light. The aroma is peppery, menthol like, with lots of pine, and a green woodiness, as well as notes of herbal grapefruit-zest, and a touch of tangelo zest. The end has aromas of cracker like malt and a hint of hay like grain.

The beer is fairly light bodied and quite quaffable. The beer has lots of tangelo zest, Curacao orange peel, nice lychee notes, and even some kumquat zest. A solid, but smooth bitterness gets a touch green and herbal in the finish, but the bitterness of this IPA is on the low side for an IPA. Slight menthol notes, a touch of pine, a definite woody peppery note, and a hint of hemp oil. There is a touch of malt character here, it contributes subtle notes of cracker like malt, and round pale malt flavors.

This is a nice IPA; it is interesting how herbal the nose is, but the flavor is much more fruit focused in its hoppiness. A pleasant surprise that I would be happy to drink a few more of. This drinks on the light side for an IPA, which is certainly nice, and I would guess that it isn’t much more than 6% abv.
