Our Scotch Ale is big in flavor and rich in aroma, brewed using unique barleys including peat smoked malt from Scotland, this beer is best served in a snifter to accentuate the flavors of black cherry and raisin and the subtle smoky aroma.

Very dark brown pour with virtually no head. Nice light peaty tones and some fresh cut wood. A hint of smoke. Taste has some identifiable peat notes over candied malts with a fruity character present. Real nice, could’ve been a bit thicker for a Scotch ale.

Thanks to goryshkewych for this one Bottle poured into a sniffer produced a finger worth of tan head that goes to a light ring of lace. On top of a rich dark black body Aromas on this is great smoked peat and roasted malts Taste is much like the nose dominated by the roasted malts and smoked peat. A nice sweetness on this brew, the alcohol in not noticeable at all. Medium mouthfeel next to no carbonation in the brew Drinkability is good on this brew but the bomber was quite enough for a sitting. I had it with some Brisket that was left over from purplehops (thanks Stan) gathering and I must say it was a great meal

Pours very dark like a porter or a stout. Nose is malt, peat, raisins and toffee.Taste enhances the raisins and also brings out a fruitiness. Mouthfeel is opulent. Finish is smooth and a little too sweet.

Courtesy jayMFg. Pours a dark crimson to chestnut brown color with a scant, off-white head. Absolutely no lacing noted. The aroma is that of a standard Scotch ale, with notes of chocolate, caramel, prominent smoked peat, and hints of soy-like saltiness. Some indiscernible dark fruits linger in the background as well. Flavors stay the course, showing sweet chocolate and caramel malts that are countered by staunch, earthy hops and a significant smoky peat billing. The alcohol is well hidden at 8%. A medium-full body is lightly carbonated and silky. Quite drinkable and enjoyable, despite not excelling in any particular area.

Brown to black in color with a thin head. Smell has a little smoke, peat, fruits, and roast. Taste is much the same as the smell. I expected more. Medium bodish.

22oz bottle, courtesy of ryan. Thanks! Pours a very dark, reddish-brown color; thin light tan head with patchy lacing. Some chocolate, caramel, and roasted malts in the aroma; basic, chewy maltiness. Medium mouthfeel: smokiness and oiliness upfront; roasted malts, roasted meat, chocolate and caramel; relaxed carbonation; pretty tasty due to the smoky note coming through; dense, oily scotch ale. Lengthy finish: smoke, oily malts, and some nuttiness.

Bottle provided by Crosling at the Pre-DLD tasting at Flossmoor, thanks Nick:

Ruby hued with an oily appearance and a small fading head. The aroma has notes of smoked wood, peat, caramel, herbal hops, tin and other metallic vapours. The taste has a nice fresh smoked tone and a mild sweet malt background. Nutty and herbal as well. The mouth feel is smooth and soft, dry and minerally finish. A solid Wee Heavy but lacks some depth.

Bottle... DLD’08... Clear black ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Smoky, chocolate and coffee nose. Full-bodied and creamy with gentle carbonation. Great balance. Chocolate and smoke. Finishes bittersweet, chocolaty and smoky. Not positive this is brewed to style at all. Great smoked porter? Very nice, either way!
