12oz bottle pours a cola brown with amber highlights and a small almost gray head. Aroma of molasses, chocolate, raisin, and nuts. Taste has a sour to sweetness all the way through ending in a nutty bitterness, hints of caramel and toffee throughout.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Tasted from a 12 oz bottle purchased in Fort Collins, Colorado. Dark reddish brown appearance with a white/brown head. Brown, slightly skunky, and slightly nutty aroma with a little caramel. Kind of a weird nutty flavor in the brown malty body. Overall just kind of a weird unknown flavor.

1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20
bottle. Pours dark red instead of brown with no head. Sweet aroma, bubblegum, along with toffee. Flavor almost has a sort of cherry cola flavor to it, hardly tastes like beer. Is this a bad bottle or something? I donít think so... I didnít have high expectations for this one but damn, itís pretty bad. This will be the first beer I drainpour.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Sampled on 9/11/2010. This brown ale pours a dark brown color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, sweet and a touch nutty. A medium bodied brown ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, caramel and nutty. The hops are earthy. Little to no carbonation. Kind of overly sweet and somewhat cola like, its a little thin and watery as well. Not a good combination. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20
Head is initially very small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing.
Body is dark brown.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (caramel, malt syrup, toasted grain).
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, slightly unclean.
Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, soft/flat carbonation.
Wow, seriously?! Some hops would have helped. Maybe some yeast, too. Or at least a little extra water. Something to break the syrupy monotony of this raw malt beverage. Oof. Sure hope this was a mistake.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle purchased as part of a Grand Lakes mixed six pack in Breckenridge, Colorado. Pour is slight haze brown ruby with a very minimal tan head that breaks down to a few bubbles immediately. Aroma is nutty caramel malt, along with some artificial fruit sweetness. Very light touch of roast evident as it warms. Taste has a lot more of the roast malt, up front along with the nuttiness and only a mild caramel toffee sweetness, which is much more natural in the taste. This is much better tasting then I was expecting. Palate is medium to thin, low carbonation with a nice roasty finish. Decent brown.

2.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a deep ruby brown with a very small head that quickly goes to a very thin collar.
The aroma is caramel and toffee malts and some roast with a little smoky molasses.
The flavor is nutty caramel and toffee malts and a little smokiness with a lightly acidic bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and very watery with almost no carbonation.
Overall, another Grand Lake beer that I liked a lot better fresh on tap at the brewery. The watery body was very distracting.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours a pale beige thin short lived head, with some lacing, over a clear light reddish brown (SRM 20) body.....nose is hazel nut, bit of coffee, with a bit of toffee and caramel, along with minimal grassy hop....taste is light roasted malts, with a bit of toffee, finishing with a light spicy hop bitterness, it is dry throughout.....mouth feel is light, carbonation adds a spritz on the tongue. This fits reasonably closely the Northern type of English Brown Ales. It does not have quite the depth of some of the others in the genre. BJCP 7/2/12/4/7
