mmm///beer (573), Austin, Texas, USA Jul 21, 2008 (Sampled 7-5-08 at brewery from sampler) Non transparent and cloudy yellowish/orange in color, white ring head that actually laced, aroma of wheat, oranges, coriander, and banana. Hits the mouth with a high-thin body, the malt is weak again, a concoction of sugar, oranges, and coriander hit all the same taste buds at once and made it a very unenjoyable experience, finish lingers- which isn’t enjoyable at all. The aroma and appearance had promisings, but it ended up a train wreck. CharlesDarwin (1406), State College, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 20, 2007 12 oz Bottle. Aroma glows as light herbal leaf and orange juice. Pours opalescent yellow, with white rim. Dry lactic tang dominates right off the bat, carrying fermented wheat. Lots of orange oils and extracts. A bright currant hop finish. A real lactic infection. Also clean. It’s obvious that the lactic infection eats up the remaining sugars in the Wit. What’s left behind is the nice orange peel and spicing, leaving a Berliner Weisse-like spice pale ale. There’s some coarse bitterness in the back end that brings this down a little bit. But, I appreciate the dry, curt sippability of this unintentionally sour beer. Thanks Sean! Tmoney99 (3618), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Aug 13, 2007 Draft sample at MBGF07. Pours clear amber color with an average fizzy white head that was lasting with fair lacing. Light to moderate spice and orange citrus aroma. Light to medium body. Medium sweet flavor with a light citrus sweet finish of short duration. My expectations where met. Silphium (2027), Lansing, Michigan, USA Jul 2, 2006 On tap at GRBC. A traditional witbier, nothing out of the ordinary or "Americanized" about it. Hazy yellow-orange body, medium off-white head. Sweet orange peel aroma with notes of grass and biscuit. Grassy body with nice touches of coriander, orange peel, and clover honey. Relatively light-bodied but pleasantly so. badnewsbeers (982), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Jul 4, 2005 this was worse than expected, and i dont expect much from this brewery....too much wheat...i would describe this as an extreme version of bell’s oberon...orange and lemon prevalent...harsh palate...at least it LOOKED okay
