Let me disagree... this was deep into my michigan winter beerfest & i don’t have too many notes, but to say this beer is actually pretty good. the bourbon is there, & hard candy ... but not overpowering... on the whole its a nice brew.

Nip bottle shared by Sean, thanks! Poured a deep brownish amber with no head whatsoever. Aroma was strong bourbon with underlying sweet grains, caramel and a hint of bread. Flavor was extremely thin with a hint of bourbon and sweet grain. A bit more flavor came out as The beer was completely flat as well.

2008 MBG Winter Beer Fest. Medium-bodied barleywine with strong buttery oak and bourbon characteristics, backed by caramely, toasty malts and modest hops. Based on the previous review, I suspect this is a different batch, as this was a pleasant sipper.

Tap at brewery. Poured a clear amberish color. Aroma is bourbon all the way. Taste is of vanilla bourbon and playdoh.

Nip bottle. 2007 summer release.Beer #900. Aroma lifts a bit of barbeque sauce and tomatoes to the nose. Comes in a tawny golden amber, with no head. Flavor is a tomatoey fruit mess, blended with old hard candy, bits of fake vanilla and some ice cream. Tannins and tobacco creep in. Finishes a bit salty and with detectable savory notes on the slide. Thin. With heat. Not real exciting. Thanks for sharing Sean.
