6oz nip bottle. Aroma punctuates the air with definite light lactic. Not what I’m looking for with this style. Pours a pale amber, with white chunks of painting skinning the surface of the beer. Flavor moves in lactic form, with bitter chalkiness and pure acid. Obviously, this doesn’t work with an IIPA. The hops and acid clash, the body is worn out by the lactobacillus and things gets ugly. Pits of overly cooked caramel. Dry and salty. A place where an infection can’t be used to turn lemons into lemonade. Thanks for sharing another obscure rarity Sean.

2nd annual Michigan Winter Beer Festival, Lansing...this was a massive ipa with little malt to complement the somewhat offensive flavor...sorry GRBC...it was a valiant effort i am sure

Sampled at the 2nd annual Michigan Winter Beer Festival, Lansing. Walled off by the Founders-crazed masses, I was fettered by my need to validate something put out by GRBC. This wasn’t my answer (alas). Murky orange body, thin off-white head. Basically this started with light bourbon and a punch of generic, citrusy and piney hops, quickly thinning to a watery mess. Light, bitter finish. Everything these guys produce seems watered-down. Perhaps their spartan, stenciled banner that looked like it was drawn up an hour before the fest should have tipped me off to yet another round of disappointing beers. At least their framboise was good as usual, though they could ditch the addition of table sugar.
