On tap at GRBC. I ordered this knowing it would most likely be hideous, but I was wrong. Murky red-brown body, thin off-white head with a touch of pink. Tart cherry aroma, musty, earthy, and sour. Flavor was sweet, bordering on cloying, dominated by balsamic vinegar and malt sugars with a nice tart cherry backdrop that added just a touch of acidity. Quite vinous. Definitely not a lambic, definitely a Flemish Sour Ale. Would benefit from a bit more funkiness and toned down sugars; the sugars give this a bit of a soft-drink artificially sweetened aspect. Easy drinking.

12oz Bottle, blue label with number 15 written on it. Blast of lactic sours the nose, heavy in fruit syrups and quiet palm nectar. Vinous and berry like. Jams and preserves. A touch sweet smelling, but not bad. Pours a completely flat glowing ruby. Great color, somewhere between blood, wine, and cranberry juice a touch pale. Sparse soapy rim. Flavor is about as expected, but with more restraint on the lactic. Generally just a very fruit, boldly sweetness, in middle berry, with the slightest faint of sourness, but not enough to really make you think it should ever have the word lambic on the bottle. Flatness doesn’t help, pushes it into a regional berry wine. Blueberry character is rather reduced. Carbonation and lactic qualities need to be amped up and candy-like flavors need to be pushed down. Thanks Sean!

BBB63 (5039) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - JUL 24, 2006
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2007 Michigan BGF 06, day 2: Deep crimson red and minimal head. The nose is cherry with a hint of funky yeast, wheat and barley, woody vapors. The taste is syrupy cherry juice and wood, little else. Sticky and blah on the palate. Ultimately nothing more than Cherry Kool-Aid...lambic my arse.

I got this ice cold first, and then split it with my buddy. I thought it tasted really good as a little treat in between other beers. Definitely not an all night drinker, but a good refreshing fruity snack.

on tap at GRBC....cherry red appearance with thin off white head...aroma is full of sweet cherries and vinegar; flavor is full of cherry and vinegar as well; my favorite "lambic" from GRBC to date; congrats to the brewers
