yjb (108), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Feb 25, 2008 A very sweet lindemanesque ’lambic’. Very good for ye ol sweet-tooth, but otherwise a bit dull. not very tart or sour.
sneagrams3 (1318), St. Louis, Missouri, USA May 10, 2008 Tasted 4/27/08. Sampler from the brewpub. Clear and ruby hued. Grainy candy nose. Fruity and medium bodied. Super tart! Nice bitterness. Tasty. BBB63 (3671), La Porte, Indiana, USA Feb 25, 2008 2008 MBG Winter Fest: Blood red with a small fizzy head. The aroma has notes of raspberry syrup, some cane sugar, hint of funk and vinegar, biscuity malts. The taste is far too sweet much like a Lindemans, where did the sourness go? Sugar and raspberry puree with some herbal notes as well. The mouth feel is soft and sticky. Not the best of examples. CharlesDarwin (1313), State College, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 20, 2007 12 Oz Bottle. Confused nose of sharp wild fermentation, light champagne vinegar, and raspberry syrup. Smells unique. Pours a clear strawberry flesh, with rose-tinted rim of whitish. Beer moves forward with fast bursts of raspberry sugars intermingled with explosive carbonation and strong acids. This has just as much vinegar as Rodenbach Grand Cru, but it’s masked by some amount of sugar. A little harsh and biting. The wildness in this beer isn’t exactly exciting, I sense some enterobacteria. Vinegar, off-wildness and too much sweetness make this a little tough to stomach. Interesting to try for sure! Thanks Sean! Silphium (1976), Lansing, Michigan, USA Feb 25, 2007 Sampled at the 2nd annual Michigan Winter Beer Fest, Lansing. AKA Framboise Lambic. Very pleasant and easy-to-drink, with Rodenbachy vinegar and musty tones paired with slightly tart raspberries. The addition of sugar at the end of the fermentation cuts the tartness too much, and gives this a bit of an alco-pop palate. Wild beer for the masses, but a good introduction to funky yeasts for drinkers not familiar with the style.
