Had on tap at GRBC. Nearly black pour with an off cream head. Aroma of chocolate, some lactose, slight roast malt. Nose is a bit sweet. Taste is definetely sweet, caramel, vanilla and chocolate. Some roast malt and coffee, but very little. Very nice creamy mouthfeel, but a slightly metallic finish to me. Good, but not quite near the top of the list for the style.

Damn good stout. Was sweet yet bitter. Taste of chocolate and coffee undertones. Had this at Michigan Brewers Guild Winterfest ’09. Loved it. Haven’t seen it since then but wish I could.

On tap at MBG Summer Festival. Poured black with with a thick brown head. Aroma was like a sweet coffee drink, not mocha though. Flavor was very sweet and over powered the darker coffee flavors that were underneath.

On tap at the brewpub/restaurant. Mostly opaque brown body, thin buff head. Aroma of burnt caramel, butterscotch, and milk chocolate. Silky milk chocolate body with caramel and brown sugar notes. Rather thin but soft and palate-pleasing.

MBG Summer Fest ’08. Poured black with a nice, long-lasting head. Aroma was true to its namesake dessert - cocoa and espresso. Flavor mirrored the aroma, but added sweet malt to the equation. Mouthfeel was creamy and substantial with low carbonation. Granted, it’s a gimmicky beer, but one that is expertly executed and absolutely freakin’ delicious. (At least the 2 oz. pour was delicious - it may be a little rich for a full pint.)

MBG Winter Fest 2008. Poured black color with an average frothy brown head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate roasted coffee and sweet chocolate aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Medium coffee sweet dark fruit flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration.

2008 MBG Winter Fest: Nearly opaque with a creamy tan head and excellent lace. The aroma is coffee, creme brule, chocolate and vanilla, doughy and bready malt, raisin and prune esters. The taste has a big coffee character supported by chocolate, charred malt, and grassy bitters. Some fruit and star anise found as well. The mouth feel is lively and refreshing with a dry chalky finish. Yep, it is a dessert stout indeed, yummy!

Something about a suggestive food name really draws me in and puts the flavors in my head. Nutty vanilla with a little roast to back it up. A very nice drink, which I enjoyed at the michigan winter beerfest 08.
