Bottled, at the Australian Hotel, Sydney.
Dark and lovely with a large foaming head. Big juicy dark fruit aroma with floral notes as well. Generous rich malt flavour and floral notes throughout. Caramel and apricots as well. Had with Sully, pre the Sydney gathering April 04.

From a 330ml bottle on 5/5/2011. Pours a very dark amber with a modest head. Smells mainly of sweet caramel malt. Has an interesting flavour, beginning with sweet chocolate, caramel and toffee, which is quickly followed by an intense and long roasty bitterness. The carbonation is fine and the body is relatively light. A good beer, and a little harshly treated on here.

Davros (1024) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - APR 27, 2011
Pours very dark brown with ruby highlights and a large lasting head. Nose shows caramel, milk chocolate and roasted malt. Quite sweet smelling. Some nutty hints also show. Flavours are dominated by roasted malt with little of the complexity shown in the aroma. Some sweet caramel comes through towards the finish. Carbonation is much too high and the body feels watery.

Bottle. Darkish brown with a light beige head. Aroma of toffee, cocoa, roasted malt and grass. Taste has plenty of toffee but the roasted malt is not lost. Nice distinct bitterness comes into a finish that’s still quite malty but not very sweet. Pretty tasty blend of Gippsland Gold and Hatlifter.

Bottle - poured a brownish red witrh a nice head which unfortunately didn’t last long. Malt and liqourice aromas. Malt flavours came through in the taste, would have liked it to have had a fuller body.

330ml bottle. Left a good impression for my first black and tan. Cola coloured with a medium off white collar of foam that crests the top of the glass. Aromas of coffee, chocolate and roasted barley waft upwards after opening the bottle. Smooth and velvety in the mouth with a burnt toffee punch that lingers on the tongue and in the mouth.

Pours a reddish brown with a beige head that has good retention. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and licorice. Flavour of roasted malt and licorice. Thin bodied with a slight roasted and bitter finish. Maybe the balance isn’t right with this one.
