UPDATED: OCT 2, 2013 Mild nut, fruit and coffee flavours. Pours deep brown with a very thin had. A little thin but still a very nice beer.

From the previous ratings I was expecting a little more from this. The body is quite thin and watery for a stout. The typical chocolate and coffee notes don’t seem to quite translate and the flavour of darkly roasted barley seems predominant. A decent tan head and good carbonation. Slight plum and smokey coffee aroma

Poured a dark cola brown colour with mahogany tints. Thin light tan bubbles make up the head. Lacing virtually nil. Aroma of sweet vanilla and a subtle trace of roasted grain. Tasted strongly of roasted grain, had a trace of smokiness and low level bitterness. Light body, a bit watery than I was hoping for. Sweet with a long rough roasted grain finish. Average.

This beer is ok. I probably won’t be getting it, but if a friend offered it to me I wouldn’t say no either.

UPDATED: OCT 4, 2013 Performed well at beer club stout night out of a bottle and tap @ the brewery. Black pour with a decent tan head. Fairly subdued aromas of dark chocolate, nuts, roasted malt and a touch of smoke. Delicious creamy mouthfeel with dark chocolate, coffee, dried fruit, licorice and nuts. Medium bodied and very drinkable. There is a nice bitterness at the end of the beer which lightens it up and makes you want a second. Great Australian style stout.

Pours a dark brown with ruby highlights and a finger of off white head that fades quickly. Nose is coffee forward, with some plum, raisin and rum. Taste has a subtle hop bitterness, some caramel sweetness on the mid palate and a reasonably dry, bitter finish with coffee, plum and great smoky note. Body is medium, but it’s let down with a slightly watery mouthfeel on the finish. Pretty good.

Bottle. Pours opaque deep cola brown with smallish light tan head. Aromas of herbal, citrus hops, light chocolate, cream, roast, nutty malt character and toffee. Light medium body, creamy mouthfeel, balanced character, light chocolate, coffee, herbal grassy hop character lingering with a light toasty sweetness, semi sweet through the finish.

330ml bottle. Pours dark cola colour with very thin head. Roasted barley immediately hits the nose, followed by chocolate and hints of coffee. Thinner bodied than most stouts, similar to a porter. Starts off a little sweet on the tongue, but has a bitter finish. This one is pleasant, but not special.

Another disappointment. Worst-looking stout ever. Muddy brown, with hardly any head, it could have been filled from a flooded Berrys Creek. Aromas are chocolate and hazelnut, not bad, but not enticing either. Flavours go all over the place, with chocolates, coffee, nutella, smokiness and the muddy, gritty texture. And it’s watery muddy. There’s no full body or creaminess there. No good. The aftertaste just told me that this was a mistake. There’s better stout on the store.

Bottle. [thanks bluebetty]
Deep brown, bordering on black. Small, staying, creamy, beige head. Aroma is mild sweet, quite a bit of tartish berry, roasted malts, light chocolate. Medium, quite prickly carbonation, dry and light mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet at first, chocolate, softly fruity, then turns roasted and dry. Nice malty bitter finish where it almost feels a bit smoky. Shame that the prickliness of the carbonation kinda limits the experience.
