3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 JesseM (944) - Kitchener-Waterloo, - JUN 27, 2011
UPDATED: JUL 10, 2011 500mL bottle from the brewery. Pours a weird muddy reddish brown with no head. Aroma is like banana, popsicle, almost woody, some blackberry. Flavour is dull and yeasty at first but quickly gets very sweet with some berry flavour, but the dominant aspect here is the caramel toffee malt sweetness. Very sweet but not cloying, rounded out with some dryness that doesn’t provide balance. Medium body due to the yeast. Goes down super easy on a hot afternoon. Decent, but definitely the weirdest beer I’ve ever had from GRB

Draught at C’est What. Hazy honey colour. No head. Very aromatic: blueberry, blackberry, honey, caramel and wildflowers. Light body. Flavour of blueberry and blackberry, cream, wheat and dandelion. Short finish.

This fruit poured a clear, medium yellow colour with a big, bright white head. To the nose there are scents of vinegar, ripe fruit, brown sugar and butter??? First sip was light on the carbonation with flavours of hops, black berry jam and perfume. finish was a little bitter with sweet hop flavour lingering.

On tap at C’est What?. Hazy golden pour. Aroma is very fruity and sweet. Jam, candy, bubblegum, you name it. Medium body, slick. Very low on the usual yeasty character of a wheat beer. It’s not offensive but the one-dimensional fruitiness gets pretty tiring. Am I drunk or is that a suger rush? You get what’s advertised and it’s passable.

550ml draught
5.0% ABV
I tried this beer on draught at "C’est What" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer pours a hazy golden colour with a weak off-white cap. The aroma is blackberry, some greains, and weak floral hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was tart fruit, weak grains, and some bitter hops. Not something I would try again as this brewery has better beers.

For a light-bodied flavoured wheat beer, this is reasonably good. It lacks the cloying sweetness that is all too common with other fruit wheat beers. Beyond that it is fairly basic, but enjoyable nonetheless.

On tap at C’est What 24 Hours of Beer. Pours a clear golden colour with large, lasting white head. Aroma is very prominent, very sweet (almost bubble-gummy) berry. Flavour has same berry sweetness although mixed with a tinge of sourness and some light wheatiness. Very sweet, but not sickly so and quite refreshing. (1000th rating).

Draught or bottle (I didn’t note it) at Golden Tap Awards 2011, beerbistro. Pours a cloudy copper-gold with a small diminishing white head. Aroma smells like candy or jam or something, it’s too sugary sweet and artificial for me, along with some wheat and malt in the back. Flavour’s no better, it’s grainy and wheaty along with lots of artificial-tasting blackberries and a light bitter finish. Average bodied. Just O.K., at best, too fake for me.

Appearance: Slight hazy orange. Small white head. Aroma: light blackberry, strawberry. Flavour: Light blackcurrant, nicely fruity, not much more to say other than it’s a pleasant summer beer. Nice.

tap: Dark orange pour with a thin head.
aroma was berry, wheat, light clove spice too.
Flavour was american wheat standard with a light berry sweetness. Not too overpowering though. Body was a bit light.
