Both on tap at brewery and in 500 ml bottle. Purchased first six pack ’ever sold’. Pours nice pale copper colour. Not much head or lacing. Faint hoppy aroma (I wonder if hard water reduces aromas??). Nice earlthy, hoppy taste. Very drinkable, not super hopped like most American IPAs that I can’t bring myself to drink anymore. Definitely great label!

500 ml bottle purchased at the LCBO in Rideau and King Edward (Ottawa) on May 13, 2012. Dark amber, little head. Very sweet aroma of hops, barley notes. Very malty taste, barley sweetened with a little bitterness of hops, armertume very uninteresting. Just a bad IPA!

Not a lot on the nose. Some sweet caramel, molasses, and a bit herbal. Beautiful clear copper color with a white frothy head which dissipates rather quickly but leaves spiderweb-like lacing. Sweet malty body is balanced perfectly by a rather generous amount of bitter hops. This one builds as the beer goes on. Beautiful English style IPA from one of Ontario’s best brewery’s

Nice clear amber body, medium creamy head with good retention. Aroma is sweet and hoppy: caramel, west coast hops, orange peel, pine, a wonderful freshness, toffee. Taste is dry upfront, with an overwhelming hops bitterness, wormwood, caramel, the more your drink it, the more aggressive the hops gets, Curmudgeon indeed. For the hops maniacs

500 mL bottle. Oddly breakfasty smelling, grapefruit, cereal and french toast with maple syrup on the nose. Pours a nice rich amaretto color with a lacy off white head. Less in your face as IPA’s go, but tasty none the less, sweet in the forefront followed by a good bitter bite. Resinous and waxy in the mouth, enjoyed.

This is a middle-class IPA. The pine really stands out. I didn’t feel like it balanced as much as I’d like. When you get bigger don’t change your labels please!

(500mL from the LCBO) Poured cool, a deep brown amber with a 2cm fine cream head that left lots of lacing. Aroma is malty, honey and caramel with earthy, faintly pine hops. Flavour fairly sweet initially, bready, grainy and complex malts but promptly balanced by hop bitterness, but not a lot of flavour to go with. Finishes quite bitter. Slick, oily and mouth-filling, a very malt-driven IPA.

I don’t smell much from it so light. It gave long nice looking creamy head with laceing on glass and red to light darker away. The ehad is smooth malty and caremal & chocolate taste but leaves quickly and is dominated by extreamly bitter earthy and something else hops & so filling on the belly. Taste is good but too much with the hops parts too much for me but not a bad taste other wise. Dang good kick for % and hops buzz makes it seem stronger cheer’s so full. For the most part it’s fine even thought way too bitter and filling, but last like quarter of it became really nasty gross and yeah that was not a good way for it to end for me.

From the bottle, pours a dark amber to brown with a sticky head. Honey and malts, with some earthy grass like scents as well. Sticky mouth feel, bitter towards the finish, with some tangyness. Enjoyed.

Pours an amber colour with not too much head. Aroma of honey with the hoppy bitters. Tastes reminiscent of their Galt Knife, with more hops. Actually fairly diverse. Bottle

On tap at volo. Dark amber pour, white head with sticky lacing. Aroma is caramel, citrus hops, jam, hint of pine. Oily and bready mouthfeel. Pretty complex and decent balance. Long bitter finish that sticks around a bit too long. It’s not perfect but has a real unique character.
