3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle thanks to Matt7215. Pours a cloudy orange with thick white head. Aroma surprisingly light on hops, strong malt, and a bit of spice. Flavor is a bit uncharacteristic, but pleasant. I canít quite put my finger on these Grand Rivers, but they have this earthy, semi-metallic (but pleasant) taste, and this one is no different. Fits this style a little better than others, quite nice in the end.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from the LCBO. Clear medium copper with a tiny off white head that disappears quickly. Nose is mostly biscuit and light toffee with only a slight floral note. Medium light toffee over light bitter hops. Medium oily mouth with slightly soft carbonation. Drinks more like an ESB than an IPA.

3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
A mild IPA with a clear amber colour. Light on the tongue with a gentle bitterness at the end. Not quite a true IPA but a fine drink none the less.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Comes in a 500ml bottle in the LCBO with a hand drawn looking green and orange label with curmudgeon-y frown face. Donít let the angry man vibe deter you as this is a unique ale. It has yellow-amber colour and an earthy, floral smell. Sharp on the first sip, malty flavours eventually come forward and grow more pronounced as the drink reaches room temperature. This beer has a sharp aftertaste full of pine and resin (typical of many well hopped IPAs) but itís not crazy. Itís well balanced. Contrary to popular belief, curmudgeons arenít just angry old men. They are independent and resist trends.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Smells of biscuity malts. More of an ESB than a West Coast IPA, but a good one. Tastes of apples and flowers; crackery malts and honey, with a hint of citrus. Well balanced with medium bitterness.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Not my type of IPA. Although relatively bitter, too malty, too english. Too biscuity, and thus too balanced. Aroma is very herbal. Just not my thing.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear copper colour, medium dense white head that laces the glass. smell is malty with some hop notes, no floral or tropical character, not too strong. Flavour is not the typical American IPA flavour, but instead hoppy up front with a huge malty flavour in the end which balances but doesnít completely wipe out the bitterness. Earthy. Body is medium-full and is no easy drinker. Very good! Nice to see balanced bitterness done well.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours amber with a little white head. A bit of an aroma of pine / citrus: not much else. Malty biscuity flavour with a little pine / citrus in the back of the throat. Bitter aftertaste.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask at Morganís on the Danforth. Poured deep amber, cloudy, with large white head. Taste hoppy with citrus accents. Sweetish finish, not harshly bitter like others in this style. Lovely soft mouthfeel. Quite liked this beer. Good accompaniment to fish and chips meal.
