terrybail (331), London, Ontario, Canada Nov 27, 2008 Updated: Apr 4, 2009On tap at the Woolwich Arms in Guelph The aroma was mild caramel and hops
Pours a pal;e amber with a good size head and lacing
The taste was pretty hop[py and bitter
and i am unsure whether the keg was old or not so this one will need to be revisited at some point
Rerate on a bottle at Chancy Smiths in London Much better than the on tap at the woolie
Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 23, 2008 In short: Bread baguette and herbal/floral hops coexist admirably in this 4.4% session beer.
How: Growler purchased at the brewery, drank very fresh the day of purchase
The look: Clear golden body topped by a small white head
In long: Some herbal/floral notes on the nose. Interesting bready maltiness that reminded me of a fresh baguette. Not much toastiness, just a fresh French-style baguette. Chewy and nourishing despite the low abv. Very light caramel presence and even lighter fruity flavours. Hopping is very much on tea/herbal side of things and is totally fitting with the beer. Of course not very tasty but this highly drinkable beer is a lot more interesting than my description. At first I was disappointed that I had to buy a full growler cause they didn’t sell bottles of this one, 5 hours later it was unfortunately too late go back to get a keg. Lubiere (4464), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Sep 30, 2008 A golden lager with a thick lacing white head. A crisp caramel malt aroma with light restrained hops, lightly floral. In mouth, a smooth crisp malt, with light chalkyness, and sustained British hops. Medium bodied. On tap at Wellington Gastropub, Sept. 30 2008, 5.50$ pint. Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Sep 20, 2008 Golden-amber with a thin head and nice sparkle. Full malty aroma with light caramel accents. Rich, chewy, with pale munich malt, toasted biscuits and earthy caramel. Dry, woody, earthy finish. Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam Sep 18, 2008 Bright luminescent copper-gold with light head. Fruity, overripe lychees. Apple cores. Some phenols. Is quaffable. Decent hop aftertaste, lots of fruit. Jammy. Engaging, and seems stronger than it is. Excellent flavor. Impressive. kmweaver (2396), Sebastopol, California, USA Sep 17, 2008 500mL bottle. Pours a clear, golden-orange color; thin white head with good retention and mixed-bubbled lacing. Lots of pleasant mineral bitterness in the aroma; clean, crisp nose. Medium mouthfeel: lots of toasty malts, mineral bitterness, and earthiness; nicely dry, crisp, and intensely drinkable; some fruits and honey at the core, but dry throughout; really nice beer. Medium finish: toasty malts, minerals, and earthiness. micker (31), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Aug 26, 2008 This is alright. Not the best beer I’ve had of grand rivers. I enjoyed the plowman’s ale and the townhall lager more than this one. Beer is very similar in flavour to the plowman’s but slightly lest bitter and more fruity tasting. The beer smells like flowers, and fruit. Not bad but I would go with the plowman’s ale, this beer tastes like a watered down version of that beer. chops (60), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Aug 9, 2008 Good beer. Maybee rate it higher next time i drink it, but this was late on the menu> ill buy it again!
