Commercial Description:
The Galt Knife Old Style is a variation of a beer style that was popular in the region in the late 1800's in breweries like Rock Springs from Preston and Western Steam in Strathroy. Malty body balanced with a generous amount of floral hops.

Sampled at brewery. Pours clear amber/gold with soft carbonation. The aroma is like caramel and grass which is also reflected in the flavour, but with a touch of citrus. It has medium body and a dry slightly bitter finish. A really nice beer.

2L Growler from the Brewery, bottled 2 days ago. Dark Yellow with a decent white head. Very floral, hoppy, some bread/biscuit. Mild carbonation with a nice clean bitter finish. The freshness probably adds a few points, as I’ve rated it higher than others. I love this beer!

Draught @ Volo, Toronto, ON: Poured orange, decent foam head. Aroma is fruity, biscuity, and full of hops. The flavour was a shock to me, but very nice. A mix of sweet fruits, breads, and a ton of floral hopping. Extremely tasty, I was quite happy with it. Nice stuff!

Clear golden in colour, lingering white coloured head, some light patchy lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet, grassy, herbal, crisp, wheaty. The flavour is of grassy and herbal hops, nice bite, pale malts, light caramel sweetness comes through. Lightly bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes long, dry, moderately hopped. An excellent lager for sure, packed with flavour, very fresh.

Pours a light orange body, with a medium sized white fizz, leaving solid lace, and has good retention. Generous floral hops in the aroma, grass, a touch of citrus, a pinch of butterscotch and candied malts. All things considered, and again with this brewery, it is full on flavour considering the weight. Lots of bitter, floral hops up front, orange peel flavoured sweet malts, a smidgen of bubblegum, and quite bready. Nice, long lasting, astringent bitter finish. Well done.

One of the less remarkable Grant River offerings, still pretty solid and pleasant to drink, with flavour to spare for a mild style such as this. Floral with notes of pear and maybe something a bit plasticky. Very nice bitter finish.

From a growler. (Thanks radiomgb). Orange, with a small head that fades to a film. The aroma is caramel-sweet, with some underlying floral hops. This beer is quite hoppy, for a lager, but there is enough of a malt backbone to prevent this beer from being unbalanced. Dryish, slightly bitter finish. Smooth, and maybe a little oily on the tongue. Low carbonation. Very good lager.

Shared growler from brewery, served cold in a Stella chalice. NOV17/07.

App.: Clear golden, with a rocky white head. Aroma: Caramel and biscuits, sweet, crunchy malts, lightly vinous, slightly fruity, a bit of mash. Palate: Medium-light body and medium carbonation. Flav.: Some light grapefruit/piney hops, a bit fruity, some caramel and biscuit; a bit off dry with some bitterness.

Another solid product.
