3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JohnBarleycorn (537) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 15, 2010
Bottle. Amber appearance unusual for a lager. Aromas of caramel and roasted nuts. Buttery mouthfeel, round malt, bitter middle and caramel climax. Quite different for a lager, with some interesting layers. Wish the label explained what makes this an “old style” lager.

On tap at Wooly. Nice amber colour, decent white head. Mild aroma, but a tonne of malt flavour and a bit of hop bitterness. Wow, taste in a lager!!

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 RC8 (304) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 30, 2010
Excellent lager. Flavorful and entertaining. It could be a bit better for MY liking, but then it probably wouldn’t taste like a lager at all!
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Imperial-John (192) - Mississauga, Ontario, CANADA - APR 24, 2010
Aroma is skunky hops like the smell of stale beer. Deep gold with lots of bubbles and small creamy white head. Smooth and malty with a little skunk on the tongue, spicy crisp going down, bitter aftertaste.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 presario (4406) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 31, 2010
Golden amber with a nice white froth. Solid grain aroma with light hop and pepper note. Surprisingly zesty peppery beer. Solid body and taste. More than a basic lager. Nice grainy flavour with balancing hops.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Bonesey (33) - Ontario, CANADA - MAR 24, 2010
Bottle. Pours a deep golden with a wispy white head. Smells of stale bread. Floral hops? Yeah right. Taste is sweet with a harsh mouthfeel. Didn’t enjoy this one.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Boutip (3971) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 21, 2009
Bottle: Poured a bright golden color lager with a medium size foamy head with good retention and some great lacing. Aroma of unrefined cereal with some dry notes. Taste is not as pleasant as I had hoped for with notes of unrefined cereals and stale grain. Body is quite full with good carbonation. Not bad but definitely not the best from this fine brewery.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 bvc (1102) - Kenmore, Washington, USA - SEP 26, 2009
500ml from Scrizz. Deep golden with some amber tint and a decent head. Grainy honey nose. Prickly carbonation up front with creamy smooth flavor throughout. Some sweetness, but not too much and nice graininess. Best Grand River of the bunch for me.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 riversideAK (5404) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - SEP 26, 2009
Scrizz. Grainy, bready, some sweet malt, fruity hops - grapefruit, apricot, orange. Hazy golden orange pour, thin bubbly head. Bready and a little sweet, fruity apricot and orange, solid bitter hoppy finish. Lingering bitterness. I like the hop presence in this lager.
