COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Galt Knife Old Style is a variation of a beer style that was popular in the region in the late 1800's in breweries like Rock Springs from Preston and Western Steam in Strathroy. Malty body balanced with a generous amount of floral hops.

Sampled at brewery. Pours clear amber/gold with soft carbonation. The aroma is like caramel and grass which is also reflected in the flavour, but with a touch of citrus. It has medium body and a dry slightly bitter finish. A really nice beer.

500 mL Bottle. Gold - amber body with a fast dissipating bubbly head settling to a thin ring and little sudsy islands; it "struggled" for the 2 that I gave it in that department. Sweet malts and crystal malt dominate in the aroma; notes of clover, a hint of grass, and mildly pungent and resiny hops. Sweet malts and a phenolic accent at first and then a shift to grassy - resiny hops in the aftertaste and finish. I like how this one fizzes in the mouth like a light beer but has lots of fire power in all of it’s other aspects. A bonus point for eclipsing its own visual deception.

Poured medium golden colour with thin white head. Sweet malt aroma, maybe a bit of fruit. Medium body and nice mouthfeel with medium malt flavour. Slight sweetness, with medium hops bitterness. It is a very nice balance, and a very good brew.

Bouteille 500ml.

Bottle from LCBO Appearance: Orangey golden, looks to be unfiltered to some extent (cloudy), virtually no head. Aroma: Tangerine notes, mild toffee also, mild floral citrusy hop aroma. Flavour: Fairly noticeable hop bitterness balanced well with bready maltiness. Not too much in terms of depth but it is a lager so no problem there. Mouthfeel: Moderate carbonation, slightly chewy texture and short but dry finish. Overall: Decent tasty hop forward lager. Like the citrusy profile.

REally great beer! Cask at Wellington Gastropub. Pours orange with little head or lacing. Some fruit aromas, maybe apricot, some light hop floral notes. Good malty backing. Great sessional beer.

Pours an off orange / amber with a little bit of carbonation and a quickly dissipating bubbly white head of one finger which laces the glass slightly. Banana, grassy hops, cucumber and toasted malt aroma. Flavor is slightly bitter with notes of aforementioned aromas. Nice short bitter aftertaste with a balanced finish.

From bottle. Pours a light amber color with lacy thin head. Sweet bitter aroma, don’t think I’m using the ideal glass for this. Instant hoppyness upon imbibing, that rather pleasantly continues beyond the swallow.

Bottle - 500ml. Dark gold body with a thin off-white frothy head. Decent malty/hoppy aroma with brown sugar hints. Taste is slightly dominated by hoppy flavors. It carries some piney notes and ends with a good bitter/herbal finish.

Bottle, shared with Robbie, bottled on May 27 2012. Light amber with a messy white crown. Aroma is very nice fresh barley cereal and light honey. Love the slightly chewy malts here, really nice body for a lager. Light bitterness in the finish. A flavourful and characterful light lager style.
