Pours a transparent orange with a foamy white head. Aroma: Strong pumpkin spices: cinnamon, all-spice, cloves especially. Has a bit of a burnt scent to it. Faint hints of banana. Smells really dry and a bit unpleasant, despite the spices. Palate: medium bodied, very very fizzy, rather astringent, slightly dry finish, very very very long aftertaste. Taste: medium sweet at the start, then gets dry and spicy. Definitely a beer with a lot of pumpkin in it. Better than the pumpkin ales that taste just like lager.

Draft - Sweet Christmas spices. Clear gold with a rich white head. Spice is very much held in check. Pale malts come through and a pleasant sweetness. Smell is deceptively strong, but overall well balanced.

Bottle from Sep 2012 brewing, opened Jan 2013. Orange colour, some white head, lots of floaties and carbonation. Strong pumpkin and spice aromas, pie filling. Bit of tartness in the taste. Body was a bit watery. Would feel waterlogged after a whole bottle. A bit safe and bland, but a good balance of flavours.

Fairly bland copper pour. Rich pumpkin and vegetable aroma. Hint of sugar. Some spice compliments as well. Sticky finish. Iím not getting a lot of "beer" character here - minimal hop or malt presence. But quite drinkable and compliments a meal nicely.

Bottle. Lemony caramel aroma in front of subtle spices; allspice, ginger. Crystal clear light copper under a thin, white cover. Sweet base malt flavour with a pleasant balance of pumpkin pie spices; ginger, nutmeg, allspice. Medium light body, medium carbonation, clean finish.

473ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy orange and a small off white head. Aroma is allspice and a little clove. Flavour is at first pumpkin pie spices and more cloves this time. The pumpkin shows up a little later along with a hint of malt. Body is medium. The finish has more pumpkin with a lingering cinnamon flavour.

Way too much nutmeg. Weak body. Not the best pumpkin ale iíve ever had. Not worth 4$ a pint at the LCBO.

Trying out a new burger joint: Mano Burger Bar. Ends up that they have a craft beer menu. Even better it has two beers on it I havenít tried. This is the first Highballer Pumpkin Ale by Grand River Brewing. Just slightly hazy yellow/orange pour with a foamy head. Weak scent. Some hops and just a bit of pumpkin. I expected more. Nice light taste. Hoppy with quite a bit of pumpkin taste followed by just a bit of bitterness. Some good ale qualities, just a touch of caramel. Really digging this.
