Bottle from the LCBO thanks to czar, dated 2014/MAY/8. Pours a strong golden/light copper with a huge foamy white head that leaves fluffy lacing. Nose is of earthy hops and lightly metallic, you can even smell the carbonic acid I think. Taste is moderately bitter and dry, offers more carbonic bite and not much else. Some caramel, earthy/woody/strawy hops and that’s about it. Body is medium and carbonation way too high and problematic. There is some light grain husk in the finish along with some soapy and almost harsh bitterness. I didn’t have much expectations and this beer didn’t even try to reach them. Or maybe it’s the horrible label? Blah.

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2011 1.9 l growler from the brewery. poured auburn with a huge frothy white head that leaves beautiful lacing all down the glass. very hoppy aromas. super alpha for sure. excellent bitterness but it is well rounded by the malts. roasty flavours near the finish that make you smile. an excellent brew//////////////////////////// fairly steep decline on this one through the years, still a servicible brew but not nearly as great as it was initially

Growler. Majestic copper body with a small white ring of head. The aroma is very grainy with burnt malts and cookie dough. A nice flavour profile with soft doughy malts, metallic pine bitterness and particularly in the finish where it appears to be quite brash and bitter.
Glad to see another brewery open up around these parts!

Light aroma of mild caramel roast, little cherry jam there too. Oxidized malt up front, sours a bit, finishes complimentary, reminds me of a bruin.

Growler. Amber-brown with a medium, sticky whitish head. Aroma is sweetish, with caramel, toast, and hops. The taste is quite hoppy, with just enough malt to back it up. Nicely bitter finish. Medium body and carbonation. Kinda like an English bitter made with Belgian yeast. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Bottle from lcbo Niagara on the lake, bottled July 17, 2012. Pours dark amber tan hue with a silky looking tan head. Lacing coats the glass. Nose and taste of toast, pine, and nut. Medium body... More body than one would expect from a sub 5% abv.

50 cl bottle, Mulmur, ON, Canada. Dark golden, thick head. Brown sugar-resin aroma. Thick, strong nectarine flavour. Long sweet caramel finish balanced nicely with malt. Better than I thought.

Pours a deeper shade of amber, topped with long lasting off white head, leaving good lace. Gorgeous, fresh aroma of leafy, floral hops, bursting with pine essence, citrus (lemon, orange), and hints of butterscotch and cotton candy. The inviting aroma is matched by assertive floral hops, lemon zest, grass, a touch of sweet malty caramel and bubblegum. Medium body, with a very forward and enjoyable bitter finish. As with other beers from this brewer, the focus is on balance, full flavour, and lower ABV. It seems they can’t go wrong. Excellent.
