3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Strangebrewer (646) - Chatham, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 6, 2011
bottle. Poured hazy orange with a creamy tan head. Fresh herbal hoppy aroma. Average carbonation, sticky palate. Grapefruit, green tea, caramel malt, hint of pepper. A bit of a metallic finish kinda like a dry red wine. Quaffable.

UPDATED: JUL 15, 2007 1.9 L growler from the brewery - poured reddish copper hue with a THICK and rocky off-white head that lasts pretty much forever. Biscuity malt aroma and quite a bit of juicy Cascade-y hops. Bready too. Very bitter opening, which smoothes out in the middle with some sweet caramel and nutty malting, which once more gives way to a long, intense bitter finish. If you like bitterness in your beer (which I do), then you’ve found your ale. This may best Scotch Irish’s Corporal Punishment (at least as of late) for bitterness. Remarkable in flavour and body for just 4.7% abv. Excellent ale.

500ml bottle purchased at the LCBO. Pours a reddish/ copper colour, white/ yellow head, sprinklings of lace here and there, good carbonation to boot. Aroma is carmalized malt and a dash of hops. Taste is malt, hop and a little smokiness as well. Real nice brew.
2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Slacks (615) - Bolton, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 7, 2009
Draught @ Bar Volo: Pours copper in colour, little white head. Smells almost cheesy, weird. Tastes like red grapefruit and caramel malts, quite a bit of flavour to be had, most of it from hops. Ok.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 thb (615) - Alberta, CANADA - JAN 23, 2012
From the bottle pours a clear deep reddish brown with a finger or two of pillowy head. Aromas a mix of caramel/chicory malts and fragrant tropical hops. Taste is similar, and lovely. Mild but persistent hop bitterness is there from start to finish. Sweetness starts to emerge as it warms up in your mouth. I get less hop aroma in my mouth than I did in smelling it, but it’s still there.

A great amber ale. Starts off caramelly-sweet like a british ale, but ends off with a nice bitter hop finish. Will definitely get this again.

Bottle thanks to Matt7215. Pours a slight brownish amber with medium off-white head. Aroma of hops, caramel, malt, and slight chocolate. Flavor similar with the addition of wheat, spice, and a slight sweetness. Very dry on the palate. Good flavor, bad finish.

Bottle. Attractive deep scarlet appearance. Highly invigorating aromas of cherry, creamy malt and melon. Very smooth and creamy mouthfeel, and a pleasant fruity flavour that leads to a chalky bitter finish. An awesome British-style draft ale captured in a bottle.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Beer Snob (493) - Ontario, CANADA - OCT 21, 2011
Very nice indeed. This is a brewery that is consistently producing good beer.
Deep brown with a moderate head. A sweet aroma - can detect some caramel and just a hint of hops which come to the forefront upon first sip. Not overpowering, just a mild English-ale level bitterness that is then alleviated by a little bit of malty sweetness. The bitterness comes back and lingers for a while.
Really good stuff.
