Draught @ Winking Judge. Deep amber with small off-white head. Grapefruity hop aroma is subtle, not in your face. Smooth, balanced, quaffable with low carbonation. Solid malts and hops both. Pretty nice but thins out in the finish a lot.

In short: An earthy and hoppy amber ale. Good stuff.
How: Bottle 500ml from matt7215, thanks a lot Matt. Consumed very fresh, bottling date October 03 2008, drank 12 days later (October 15 2008).
The look: Clear amber body topped by a medium beige head with medium retention
In long: Intriguing nose, very hoppy for a so-called amber ale with lots of perfumy flowers citrus. Taste has a good amount of earthy caramelized despite a rather light body. Fresh red fruits and even a hint of pineapple. The perfumy note of the aroma translate into earthy leafy hops in the taste with a slight dark tea and green tea flavour. Hopping is actually reminiscent of a ESB but with a dirtier caramelized body. Nice beer. But calling a beer Plowman’s Ale up here in the snowy north is not really appealing, it’s like calling a beer the Dentist’s Ale in England.

Light aroma of mild caramel roast, little cherry jam there too. Oxidized malt up front, sours a bit, finishes complimentary, reminds me of a bruin.

Botella, shared by Plovmand, gracias! Unclear amber brown colour. Well toasted caramel sweet aroma with toasty malt and some fruit. Good mouthfeel. Sweet flavour with toasted malt and caramel along some (dark) fruit and with a pleasant medium hoppy bitterness.

Ah yes the plowman’s ale. This one was good. Smells of flowers, tastes plummier than your average amber ale. Nice and fresh, I hope to drink this again in the summer.

Bottle from lcbo Niagara on the lake, bottled July 17, 2012. Pours dark amber tan hue with a silky looking tan head. Lacing coats the glass. Nose and taste of toast, pine, and nut. Medium body... More body than one would expect from a sub 5% abv.

500 ml bottle. Pours a dark amber with a large off-white head. Aromas are bread, yeast, caramel, and some licorice. Taste is a nice crisp malt with hints of cereal and caramel. Though there is a touch of sweetness it is well balanced against a light to medium bitter hop profile. Light bodied, low carbonation, and a medium length bitter finish. Reasonably pleasant.

Bottle. Amber colour with off white head. Malty, sweet, caramel aroma. Nutty, sweet, toffee, smoky, a little bitter, though a touch thin. Nice though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
