3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
500 mL bottle from the LCBO, served in an English pint. Pours clear amber with a small, off-white head. The head slowly fades to a thin remnant and leaves a small amount of fine lace. On the nose, there are big notes of caramel and biscuit, along with touches of nuts, Cascade and earth. The flavour starts out moderately sweet, with notes of caramel, nuts and earth. It soon acquires a subtle piney hoppiness which grows towards a long, slightly bitter finish. On the palate, it is medium in body, with a slightly dry texture and soft carbonation. Overall, a decent pale ale. Nowhere near as hoppy as the typical American example, but a very pleasant brew. Straightforward, well made and quite sessionable. 2011-10-03

Bottle. Orange-amber colour, creamy head. Aroma of bready malts. Taste is well-balanced, slight woodiness, bitter finish. Like the description says, simple and straightforward, but quite well done.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice to see these guys getting more of their beer into wider circulation. 500 mL bottle. Clear copper brown with a film of white head. Sweetish aroma is nicely balanced. I get bruised apple as much as anything. The flavour is also balanced and simple. Nice bitterness throughout. Very drinkable, and probably excellent on tap.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle [500ml]. Pours a hazy orange-amber with a small diminishing fizzy off-white head. Aroma of bready malt, Grand River yeast (prevalent in all their beers), light hops and a hint of diacytil. Flavor of bready malt, the aforementioned yeast, floral hops and an average bitter finish -- I would not have guessed this was made with Cascade. Medium bodied. Probably pretty good on tap but just good in the bottle.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Sammy. Dark amber with a lasting froth and lacing. Aroma indicates Amber ale with some nice hopping. Flavour is more to style. Nicely hopped without being extreme with some solid malt nicely balanced. A nice woodiness. A good pub ale.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, uptown Waterloo LCBO. Medium yellow, big white head. Nice aroma - Grand River yeast, or whatever it is, is present, but so are some nice citrus hops. Taste is great - crisp, fruity, hoppy, solid light to medium malt backbone - great American Pale Ale, yet still remains distinctly Grand River’esque. A ton of flavour packed in at this alcohol percentage. This will become my go to Grand River if regularly available, nice work folks.
