COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Pugnascious is designed to be a very simple ale. A combination of pale malt, crystal and 4 strikes of cascade hops in significant quantities - in true US pale ale tradition. Not rocket science but no beer is.

Rusty reddish hazy pour with a nice clingy white head. Draft at Gigs in London. Somewhat weak scent of citrus and fresh cut grass. Wet and refreshing. A bust of flavours at first that slowly mellows to almost nothing in the finish. It has just a touch of that pale ale bite right in the middle. Very subtle despite the name. Best beer I’ve had so far tonight.

wilderthanyou (666) - Guelph, CANADA - OCT 18, 2011
Pours a hazy deep gold with a thin white cap. The aroma is citrusy, malty, candy orange, good. The flavour starts out with a harsh hop bitterness, but then quickly moves onto a light refreshing mingle of malt and hop, and then ends with some grapefruit bitterness. Finish is a bit soapy. It does a few things bad, but it does most things well. Decent brew.

Pour copper orange with short white head. Aroma of sweet caramel, cereal grain, light citrus hops, pale malt. Taste caramel, sweet grain, citrus, nice hop kick. MF medium body fine fizzy carb. Very well brewed to style quite tasty very easy drinking well done exactly what I expect based on description.

500 ml bottle - pours clear gold/copper with a thick white head that leaves chunky lacing. Aroma similar to many of GR’s other beers in that it’s muted, a result of the incredibly hard water they use. Still, nice - caramel malts, some green apple, a faint hint of sourness (not in a bad way). Flavour amps it up a notch, revealing fresh mown hay, light lemon notes, and a pleasing herbal quality, finished with a firm bitterness. Clean, simple, eminently quaffable, yet another solid release from GRB.

Bottle purchased at the Dundurn LCBO. Pours copper copper colour with a white head. No lacing. Smells like candy, almost bubblegum really. Tastes quite sweet and a tiny bit bitter. Interesting brew.

Pours near-clear copper-bronze, minimal head. Aroma is led by the grainy malts - almost a pilsner-esque character to it. Taste is similar with mild malt sweetness cut by pretty persuasive bitterness. Not too much hop aromas. A little fruityness at the end, with a little caramel.

UPDATED: OCT 3, 2011 500ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a nice clear orange. A nice, but not too strong, fruity aroma. Malty caramel taste, with a bitterness similar to Grand River’s others’: Galt Knife, Plowman’s, and Curmudgeon. A very nice pale ale; nothing mindblowing, but it’s not meant to be.

some hoppiness in the aroma, but beyond that it tasted like any macro with a little more body. not very good, wouldnt have again.
