COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Pugnascious is designed to be a very simple ale. A combination of pale malt, crystal and 4 strikes of cascade hops in significant quantities - in true US pale ale tradition. Not rocket science but no beer is.

500mL bottle to wine glass Aroma of hay and caramel malts. Clear reddish amber with almost no head. Burnt malts with a nice piney bitterness. Unfortunately this brew is a bit watery and thin or it would have been much better.

Rusty reddish hazy pour with a nice clingy white head. Draft at Gigs in London. Somewhat weak scent of citrus and fresh cut grass. Wet and refreshing. A bust of flavours at first that slowly mellows to almost nothing in the finish. It has just a touch of that pale ale bite right in the middle. Very subtle despite the name. Best beer I’ve had so far tonight.

(Rating #3966)

500 ml bottle. Pours an almost clear, pale orange amber with a short lasting white head. Taste is malty, light caramel. Light earthy, herbal, piney hoppiness. Too subtle for my liking...Light to medium bodied. Alright...

500 ml bottle sample. Pours a light amber with a large pillowy off-white head. Aromas are bread, hay, over-ripe fruit, and slightly acidic, Tastes are an interesting balance between sweet and bitter. There are some gentle caramel malts offset by some copper and grass. Light bodied, strong carbonation, and a medium to long astringent finish. Interesting.

Clear but coppery colour with little head and no lacing. Aroma is caramel malts with a weird apple pie aroma and some floral hops. On the palate it proves much better with a caramel malty backbone followed by a slight bitter finish and sports a medium body at best. Forgettable at best.

Hazy fiery orange-amber with a thick head...looks pretty good. Kind of a yeasty doughy aroma with cheesy, slightly woody cascades. Taste is a bit cleaner and fresher, maybe some good pale malts and a dash of crystal, but overall a bit of a retread beer that would need flawless execution and handling (as in, not LCBO) to succeed.

500 ml bottle from LCBO, shared with Lubiere, served cool in a tulip glass. 21AU11.

App.: Clear bright amber with a so-so white head. Aroma: Lots of biscuit malt, some caramel, leafy hops?, vegetal notes, a little floral hops, British style for sure. Palate: Medium body, relaxed effervescence. Flav.: A little cardboard, stern, earthy, slightly nutty, burnt sugar malt, a little floral, soapy hops, restrained and still British; dry with fair bitterness and a decent biscuit malt finish.

Fair. Certainly not my favourite offering from GRB.

Pours near-clear copper-bronze, minimal head. Aroma is led by the grainy malts - almost a pilsner-esque character to it. Taste is similar with mild malt sweetness cut by pretty persuasive bitterness. Not too much hop aromas. A little fruityness at the end, with a little caramel.
