Bottle 500ml. [2011] Thx mathieuc. Pours very dark brown (black) with low beige head. Nice lacing. Aroma is of smoke, roasted malt, burnt nuts, some fruits. Taste is of smoke, roasted malt, bitterness, coffee, bitter chocolate (80%+ cacao). Palate: Medium-full bodied. Overall: Good. I don’t dig that smoke all too much, but it is not cloying. Not too heavy. In good shape for it’s age. Pretty bitter.

Rastacouere (6129) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 29, 2013
Relatively pale brown for an impy, gentle beige foam. Roast forward nose, bringing forth burnt grains notes with coffee undertones. Not particularly complex, just a stronger stout. The sweet brown sugar & molasses creep up suddenly at the beginning of the second half to then leave all the room to the roasty bitterness, procuring a major dry-out effect giving the impression that the beer is overall on the dry side. Lingering ashey bitter taste is accentuated by above average carbonation. Leafy, earthy hops are complementary and never attempting to dominate. I don’t really see the point of drinking a strong beer if it’s not to be impressed by either original flavours / textures or impressive complexity and we’re not in that zone here, so it really is one among many others.

Papillon (366) - Sudbury, Ontario, CANADA - APR 15, 2013
500 mL Bottle. Deep black-brown body with a thin tan head settling to a wispy but tenacious film and ring leaving some stringy lace. Aroma of toasted malts, crystal malts, molasses, and prunes. Flavor of sweet and toasted malts, a "burnt toast" and treacle aftertaste followed by an intense hop bitter and "that English pub taste" in the finish; just the way a stout should be. Solid yet smooth in the mouth.

Bottle (500 ml). Thanks to czar! Black with a medium diminishing brown head and almost no lacing. Aroma of chocolate, molasses, roasted barley and alcohol notes. Taste is moderately to heavily sweet with roasted barley, molasses, chocolate, alcohol and a slight bitter finish. Medium to heavy body. Moderate carbonation. Decent Imperial Stout.

dandeman (505) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 25, 2013
Aroma: Molasses, smoked bacon and smoked meat. Interesting mix between molasses and smoked aromas. There is also a bit of chocolate and coffee with slight ether notes. Appearance: Black, opaque, average size head color ’’café au lait’’, average lasting and lacing. Taste: Molasses hits first, with notes of coffee, smoke, wood and a solid roast bitterness as finish, lasting a very long time. Mouth feel is pleasant, round and full. A good mix of sweet and bitterness.

Gethinbeer (2154) - Nova Scotia, CANADA - MAR 23, 2013
Black pour with a great creamy head and clknging lace. Roasted malt, fruity smoked aroma. The beer has a lovely texture, smooth as silk. Roasted malt, coffee and chocolate flavour. Very well balanced stout. Full flavoured beer.

neuromatt (1154) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 10, 2013
500 mL bottle from the LCBO, served in a snifter. Pours deep black with a small tan head that fades quickly and leaves a moderate amount of fine lace. The nose has big roasted malts, molasses and chocolate, along with anise, coffee and subtle earth. The flavour is mildly sweet throughout with a large roasty, smoky component and notes of coffee, molasses and hops. A subtle resiny bitterness grows through the middle and leads to a long and hoppy finish with roasty notes. On the palate, it is medium in body with a syrupy texture and very soft carbonation. Overall, this is a decent imperial stout, but it feels like it is missing something; the malts are light in body and their complexity is overwhelmed by roasty notes. 2013-03-10

Gpnterojd (176) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 22, 2013
Aroma of chocolate and cinnamon when cracking the cap. Turns more alkaline and grainy as it warms. The first few gulps are sweet and surprisingly light. After that, hops dominate and some soap creeps in.
