Bottle (500 ml). Thanks to czar! Black with a medium diminishing brown head and almost no lacing. Aroma of chocolate, molasses, roasted barley and alcohol notes. Taste is moderately to heavily sweet with roasted barley, molasses, chocolate, alcohol and a slight bitter finish. Medium to heavy body. Moderate carbonation. Decent Imperial Stout.

Aroma: Molasses, smoked bacon and smoked meat. Interesting mix between molasses and smoked aromas. There is also a bit of chocolate and coffee with slight ether notes. Appearance: Black, opaque, average size head color caf au lait, average lasting and lacing. Taste: Molasses hits first, with notes of coffee, smoke, wood and a solid roast bitterness as finish, lasting a very long time. Mouth feel is pleasant, round and full. A good mix of sweet and bitterness.

Black pour with a great creamy head and clknging lace. Roasted malt, fruity smoked aroma. The beer has a lovely texture, smooth as silk. Roasted malt, coffee and chocolate flavour. Very well balanced stout. Full flavoured beer.

neuromatt (1107) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 10, 2013
500 mL bottle from the LCBO, served in a snifter. Pours deep black with a small tan head that fades quickly and leaves a moderate amount of fine lace. The nose has big roasted malts, molasses and chocolate, along with anise, coffee and subtle earth. The flavour is mildly sweet throughout with a large roasty, smoky component and notes of coffee, molasses and hops. A subtle resiny bitterness grows through the middle and leads to a long and hoppy finish with roasty notes. On the palate, it is medium in body with a syrupy texture and very soft carbonation. Overall, this is a decent imperial stout, but it feels like it is missing something; the malts are light in body and their complexity is overwhelmed by roasty notes. 2013-03-10

Aroma of chocolate and cinnamon when cracking the cap. Turns more alkaline and grainy as it warms. The first few gulps are sweet and surprisingly light. After that, hops dominate and some soap creeps in.

Bottle. Nice brown with a decent light biege head. Molasses, smoked malt, some coffee grinds and bittersweet chocolate, alcohol. Moderate carbonation and body, still smoky, becomes quite dry and bitter, like the finish.

After the last two I decided I needed something Good. Im hoping this fits the bill. Sure looks great. Near black pour with a bubbly yet not fizzy tan head. Malty raisin scent, something fruity. Bitter, very bitter start. Like a bite in the tongue followed by a bite in the back of the throat. A bit too much of a bite. Low carbonation. Not at all boozy even though its a strong one. That bite faded quick and was replaced by a mellow chocolate aftertaste and slight saltiness? Soy sauce like? Odd, I havent been eating anything so Im pretty sure thats coming from the beer. This is good, way better than what I had been drinking but Im not a fan of that bitter bite at the start.

Dark brown almost black colour. Initail taste of yummy dark chocolate, coffee and molasses. Full body and rich flavour. Bitter assertive finish leaving a crisp bold bite. IMO a little overpriced being almost a dollar per 100 ml CAD. Next time I will try to pair with either steak, meat pie, smoked meats, chili or game meats. However IMO there are better value stouts priced per ml available. Still worth a try!
