Dark brown almost black colour. Initail taste of yummy dark chocolate, coffee and molasses. Full body and rich flavour. Bitter assertive finish leaving a crisp bold bite. IMO a little overpriced being almost a dollar per 100 ml CAD. Next time I will try to pair with either steak, meat pie, smoked meats, chili or game meats. However IMO there are better value stouts priced per ml available. Still worth a try!

Bottle 500 ml. Bought at LCBO. Pours black with thick creamy beige head. Some lacing. Arma: coffee and roasted malt. Subtle. Taste: some chocolate, with roasted malt and nuts. Alcohol well hidden. No aftertaste. Creamy texture. Thin for the style. Fairly enjoyable Imperial Stout.

Cloudy chestnut with a little bit of head. Both molasses and vague spice (cinnamon?) are present in the aroma. Rich, full-bodied and with lots of spice, but also yeasty. The malts are muddled and while the rich fruitiness is appreciated the roast is harsh like burnt espresso and the alcohol not strong enough to take the edge off the sweetness.

500ml bottle from the LCBO. Pours very deep brown with tiny beige head that doesn’t hang around. Nose is coffee, chocolate and vanilla with notes of oak, caramel and dark fruit. Very sweet malty front with soya and vanilla in the middle and a dryer than expected finish without being overly bitter. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

January 23, 2014. Bottle from LCBO. Chocolate and coffee in the aroma with a hint of cherry. Small head that quickly disappeared. Bitter aftertaste. Not quite as smooth as other imperial stouts I’ve had.

Bottle. Not the one pictured though. My parents picked this up for me on a recent wine trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake. Pours a nice dark brown. Smell has a little bit of cinnamon, a little licorice, a little cardamom. Taste is similar but heavier on the chocolate. Nice beer, no boozy aftertaste.

Bottle LCBO: opaque black brown with thin head. Bold aromas of toasted malt, grains, and espresso with zambuca. Tastes like molasses and dark malts and hops. Slick mouthfeel with a very bitter finish. Really satisfying.

Murky brown to black colour with a thin head that disapears quickly. Aroma is filled with grains and oats, roast, sweet sugary/molasses notes. On the palate it is sweet, molasses flavoured and finishes a slightly burnt toast bitterness. It is a fairly boring imperial stout and another example of ontario brewers more focused on ’drinkability’ than having a bold beer.

Pours ink black with a one finger brown sugar cap. I really like the taste here: starts off chewy toffee & finishes with a nice sustain of muted mocha. May not pack the high octane ammunition some other Imperials boast but it is a great sipper.

Bottle 500ml. [2011] Thx mathieuc. Pours very dark brown (black) with low beige head. Nice lacing. Aroma is of smoke, roasted malt, burnt nuts, some fruits. Taste is of smoke, roasted malt, bitterness, coffee, bitter chocolate (80%+ cacao). Palate: Medium-full bodied. Overall: Good. I don’t dig that smoke all too much, but it is not cloying. Not too heavy. In good shape for it’s age. Pretty bitter.
