COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is an easy drinking lager with a difference. There is lots of flavour and body that separates it from the rest. This well balanced beer has an excellent malty base with a pleasant hop balance that provides a nice response to the malt sweetness. The hops in this beer provide the balance and gives it a full flavour profile that most lagers in the market just don’t have. The colour, aroma and full flavour separates this lager from others and reminds beer drinkers that an easy drinking lager can have lots of flavour and character to think about.

Growler from the brewery. Clear copper-bronze with a white head, some retention & lacing. Aroma of grassy, metallic/minerally hops, grainy/biscuity malt, toffee, nuts and a appricot fruityness. Flavours of earthy-orange, metallic hops, with a little nutshell bitterness and woody spicyness. Caramel malts with a little nuttyness and a slightly buttery diacetyl round out the flavour. Good bitterness. Moderate body has a light sweetness and a crisp finish. Very drinkable.

Appearance :Good deep dark amber gold colour with decent white head.3+
Nose :Clean aroma of quality malt , lighter presence of euro hops.
Flavour/Palate : Medium full bodied . Well produced and exposed malt work . Full well rounded lager . Highly drinkable one of better for style. Light yet well noticed hops add to its greatness. Recommended brew.

Draft @ Victory Cafe. Copper-amber body with a modest white head that is nicely foamy. (3+) Pleasant aroma with pleasant moderate hops and mild fruity notes. Hops are a type taht I can not quite place. Flavour is surprisingly fruity in alternating sips. Very nicely hopped, the hops are touch sharp at first sip but dissipates across the tongue leaving only about half that intensity in the finish and aftertaste. Pleasant, moderate bitterness throughout. (7+) Smooth average to medium palate (3+). Very drinkable, and repeatable.

Got this in a growler from the brewery. Poured a nice amber with a head that dissipated to a ring around the glass, lots of lacing. Smell is malty, some hops there, not as aggressive as their Plowman’s ale. Flavor is smooth and malty, with a hoppy bite in the finish. Very smooth and easy drinking. I’ll be back to get more next time i’m in the area.

Draught at the Victory Café. Pours a clear golden-orange with an average size diminishing white head. Aroma’s quite fruity with a nice amount of hops and caramel malt. Fruity, caramelly flavour along with hops (and again I’m pleasantly surprised by the amount of hops in this Lager) and a light bitter finish. Medium bodied. I was not expecting to like this as much as I did, another nice surprise from this brewery. Keep up the great work Grand River!

On tap at Victory Cafe. Nice golden amber pour, good sized white head. Very fruity aroma, slightly sweet. Taste is good - crisp, yet medium bodies, lots of sweetness and a good hop bite - mix in some fruit (apple mostly) and this is one satisfying full flavoured session lager! Man these guys are knocking lower alcohol style beer sout of the park, aren’t they? Great job Grand River, nice and fresh and in great shape at the Victory as well.

growler from the brewery. pours golden with a small white head that dissapates quickly. tight strands of small bubbles float up from the sides of the glass. aromas are of caramel apples with some floral notes. sweet malty flavours dominate at first but give way to a nice hoppy bitter finish. im not usually a huge lager fan but this is another great lager from this brewer.

Got it in a growler directly from the Bright Beer Tank. APPEARANCE: Big fizzy white head. Oops where did it go. Color is a nice deep amber and the clarity is good. AROMA: Mild candy sweet floral hop aroma. Brief corn smell but otherwise fairly clean. FLAVOR: Semi sweet, very little malt flavor but did pick up a slight breadiness. The Hop flavour is small but the bitterness is pleasant. Not the raw green hop bittering used on the Plowman and Galt Knife. Makes a statement but doesn’t beg for attention. MOUTHFEEL: Very light, thin bodied and clean. OVERALL PERSONAL COMMENT: A weak beer. Would not even qualify as a lawn mower beer in my books. Sorry at this time would not think of a future purchase.

UPDATED: SEP 14, 2007 Growler fresh from the brewery. The pour produces a deep gold-amber, clear lager with a massive tight-pored frothy cap which lasts and laces the glass. Sturdy aromas of pale and toasted malt...some .light whisps of hay. Medium body, hard mineral mouth feel, malty-hop forward character. Rich malt mixture in the front gets balanced and lightly over taken by more aggressive bittering hops. Lightly dry finish...bready after taste. A lighter ABV session lager from this brewer that has substantially more flavor than most light lagers.... it is somewhat better balanced than the Galt Knife lager and the hop astringency in the finish does not wipe out the malty after taste expected in a fresh lager. A well made malty summer lager and I like it better than the other GRB lager. It also has that signature sharp bite to it as other GRB brews but not as intense. Perhaps the local water is just too hard for a smooth soft lager....then again a lager with sharp "bite" to it is a pleasant change.

UPDATED: MAR 15, 2010 Growler straight from the brewery. Pours a deeper golden colour than most pale/premium lagers, with a large, fluffy white head that subsides quickly. The aroma is pretty enticing, very malty, decent hops (as should be expected from this brewery). The taste is very, very malty, but with some good hops blended to add balance. It is light, but for sure, still full of flavour. The malty flavours remind me of the intoxicating aroma of the mash boiling when you pass by this brewery while they’re making some new batches. Not quite as good as the Galt Knife Old Style Lager, but still a pretty impressive, enjoyable brew. EDIT: I’ve had this again and it seemed different than I remember. Slightly deeper copper in colour, sticky, rocky white head. For something at 3.9% abv, the alcohol still seems present? Maybe I drank it too fast. But it still has some nice tasty toasted malts in there. EDIT AGAIN: This beer’s grave was dug when it was significantly altered for LCBO approval. The heart of it was completely ripped out and stomped on. Good job obliterating a good thing guys.
