Ale 208 is brewed to be Idaho’s session ale. This crisp drinkable ale has a light malt body and subtle yet citrusy hop character. It’s brewed with 100% Idaho grown grain, hops and pure Idaho spring water. The package imagery is inspired by and pays tribute to Idaho’s rich agricultural heritage and its diverse and beautiful vistas.

The name comes directly from the 208 area code that encompasses all of Idaho. As broad and far reaching as this state is, we are all still Idaho.

Stale cereal and malt aromas. Pours clear yellow with a thin white head. Taste is pretty bland, like an American lager but more flavor than Budweiser and kin.

Bottle: A clear golden pour with a thin white head. Sweet malt and a little grass in the nose, light corn syrup. Taste is again sweet, malty and corn syrup. Minimal grass and floral notes. Not bad, but sweeter than I care for.

I’d prefer to rate this at more like 3.5 but the objective numerical components I do not know how to reduce. A session ale it is. Crisp/effervescent and refreshing without being insulting. Hazy appearance (w/small particulates) with decent head and retention. All of floral, citrus and grass in the flavor (and aroma), far from overpowering, just enough to keep one’s attention. Also somehow manages to pull off a malty balance without being obvious. I would not say especially distinctive or memorable except in terms of how well it exemplifies what’s desirable in a session beer. I’d drink plenty more of it.

Bottle courtesy of Sledutah, thank you sir! Hazy golden color, fluffy white head, webby lacing. Aroma of dusty white pepper. Taste is slightly metallic straw. OK.

Hazy, light gold in the glass, nice, soft, foamy head tops the brew. Gorgeous lacing on the glass, Nice and sticky ringing the glass with each sip. Grassy and grainy, the aroma is lightened by a lemony accent. Carbonation is lively, and the body is light, carrying the flavors easily. The palate is nice, everything balanced evenly and comfortably, and creating a nice easy finish. Not amazing, and a little bit more lemon than I like, but not a bad idea for a really hot summer day.

It poured a clear golden color with a white head. The aroma was of bready malts, some grass, floral notes and toast. The taste was of malts, grassy hops, grapefruit and medium carbonation. Thanks Hayduke.

12 oz bottle from Super 1 in CDA, ID. Brewed on 1/6/14--a little old, maybe. Aroma is pineapple, caramel malt. Pours hazy golden with a diminishing white head. Taste is sweet and grainy, maybe a little past its prime; finishes bitter. Thin body, high carbonation. Dull. I wish I had a fresher bottle.

Draft at Jackson Hole. Pours hazy orange copper with a fizzy white head and decent lacing. Tastes like pale malt, grains, bready sweetness, light hops. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells slightly sweet, slightly nutty, and like light grains.

Tap. Pours clear gold with creamy white head. Aroma is cereal and bready malts, light grassiness, faint floral notes, and faint toast. Flavor is dry malts forward and further drying out due to the light grassy hops and faint grapefruit notes; dry finish. Light/medium body and medium carbonation.
