Had this tonight at Bittercreek’s GT 25th Anniversary Party.... Nice 1 finger head atop a fairly clear darker golden brew... decent lacing. Nose has a huge barrel presence... big vinous red wine notes... a bit clovey and a background bready element... no doubt wine barrel aged, but the "Saison elements" seem a bit muddy. The taste delivers.... well done.. clove/light coriander and something that I definitely associate with red wine .... sorta tannic with warmth... Digging how the barrel presence plays with the already bigger than normal Saison elements... well integrated. Light/medium body with a lighter than expected carbonation.

Draft at Fobab 10. Pours a deep gold with a sticky white head. Nose is nice. White pepper, white wine, apricot. Some dry citrus peel as well. On tasting, medium bitterness, light crisp acidity. Refreshing. Some vanilla comes through, along with a wine slant. Oak tannins. Dry finish. Really nice saison.

Sampled at FoBAB 10 - 2012 (Chicago, IL). Pours a rich well hazed golden hue, good haziness, gentle glow. Frothy whitish head sits atop, laces ok. Aromas are gentle farmhouse and dough, gentle spice, earthy hops, kiss of citrus, some gentle red wine and oak, gentle tannic quality is fleeting. Some spice, farmhouse, and dryness. Initial is gentle sweetness, melon and grape, gentle oak, some red wine, dough. Middle is richer fruit, big citrus, grape, and tropical elements. Wet oak, vanilla, some straw, grass, and vanilla. Backend shows red grape and melon, a touch of dryness, funk, some grass and tannic barrel elements. Finish is gentle dryness and fruit. Pleasant.
