Roof top at Gene’s. A rather hoppy ESB. Piney hops. Dark ruby color which I enjoyed. Maltiness at a medium. Nice. Serving: Tap

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours light brown with a root beer float head that laces the entire way down the glass.
Aroma full of hops - American citrus even though I would expect British hops. Some roasted malts but mild.
Flavor roasty and slightly chocolatey with massive American citrus hop flavor. Slightly stale hops in taste. Possible blend of continental hops - grassy notes.
Finishes dry and very hoppy. Interesting hybrid ale.

Robust, hoppy beer. Medium-full body, warming. Quite tasty, going to again emphasize the hoppy, IPA-like aspects of this beer.

Pours an even dark amber. Nice balance of fruity hop and malt on the aroma and flavor. Consultant taste through the whole palate. One of the better ESB's I have has in awhile.

Argonaut Liquors, Denver sixer: Every bottle of this that I opened was a total gusher. The head foamed way more than is reasonable. Anyway, it poured brownish with a light brown-tan head (massive and thick because of the gushing). Aroma is toffee and caramel malts with some hoppiness. Taste is somewhat bitter and malty. Not particularly refreshing, but certainly full of flavor. Not really my favourite.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: JAN 28, 2014 A pleasing malty aroma with hints of hops. A translucent brown pour with garrnet highlights and a voluminous tan head which produces abundant ringed lacing. The roasted malt and nut flavors up front are well balanced with floral hops on the back side. Medium body and medium carbonation. Overall, a refreshing ESB. I’m glad I have 5 more to enjoy.
