COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bitch Creek perfectly balances big malt sweetness and robust hop flavor for a full bodied, satisfying mahogany ale. Like the stream for which it is named, our Bitch Creek ESB is full of character... Not for the timid.

Bottle. Pours a clear orange red color with a foamy tan colored head. Aroma is chocolate, brown sugar and syrup. Dark roasted malts for sure. Flavor is bitter dry and roasted. Brown Malts. Easy finish that is a little bitter.

"this one stands out just a little from your average esb. a little more flavor, nothing different...just more. tasted fresher, with a nice hop aroma. 4/09 had again, darker than i remember, and just as hoppy...almost more pale-like than esb. nice ale...similar hop profile to the Sweetgrass."

This is a tasty, stronger brown ale. Not being too careful w/ my pour, this ended up muddy in the glass, more so than most bottle conditioned beers. It has a nice brown color though and a creamy white head of fine bubbles which leaves behind little spots of lace. This is one of those browns that combines roasty notes w/ a good deal of hop character. It smells a bit nutty, toasty and roasty and the hops really come out once you taste it. A small amount of sweetness brings out the pine character and it finishes resinously bitter on the tongue. This is a medium to full bodied beer, I’d say, w/ mild carbonation which works well w/ the combination of flavors. It is a pretty tasty brew overall though I do kind of wish it was just a touch lighter.

Thanks to Chris for bringing this over! The beer starts smooth malty, a bit dusty, smooth, fresh but not like an ESB should be. Not too easy to drink, quite dusty malty with a sweetish-bitter ending.

Many thanks to erzengel for sharing!! Pours an orange/red with a tan head. The smell is fruit, cardboard, a bit of nuttiness. The taste is nutty, a bit fruity, some tanginess, a bit dusty ending with some bitterness. Light+ in body with fine carbonation.

On tap at Parry's. I guess I shouldn't have drank this in the same week I had a Fuller's ESB, because it isn't in the same league at all. Medium brown body and 1/2 finger of head. Good lacing. Not a very distinctive aroma, but I pick out some caramel. Tastes of malt and maple nut. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a nice dark ruby brown color with a frothy tan head. Aromas and flavors of toffee, caramel, chocolate and nuts along with good bitterness. Medium bodied. This is almost more of a Brown IPA rather than an Extra Special Brown. Very tasty nonetheless.

I really liked it even though I am not a huge fan of brown ales in general.

Pretty good brown. Not my favorite, but good. Nice aroma and color. Give it a try!

Wittales (644) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - JUN 2, 2014
Appearance was clear reddish brown with creamy beige 1/2 finger head, rings of lacing. Aromas are toffee, roasted barley, chocolate and soft coffee with earthy spicy hops. Taste are caramel, roasted black, chocolate malt beginning and middle. The backend of leather, earth and spicy hops round out the back. Palate was soft smooth CO2 with medium body, lasting earthy bitter finish. A good ESB, needs more balance.
