3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Grand Teton puts up a solid full bodied and full flavored stout. Oozing dark roasted espresso in both aroma and flavor but also exhibiting some bakers chocolate and mild dark fruits. The flavors evolve through the glass, winding up with a light sweetness and hints of vanilla and roasted nuts. Pours pitch black with a thick rocky tan head.

Pours up an oily black, with a small tan head. Aroma is like roast, bread, cocoa, peat, coffee. Flavor is slightly acidic with coffee, some earthy herbal hops, and a spiced bitter finish. A nice stout

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Fine beer although middle of the pack for an IS (which means around 17/20 on my scale). You’ll get what you expect out of IS, which is good, though probably not much more.

Tap at ox cart with commonmac and samadouche and Qponnagy. Black with small off white head. Subtle aroma. Heavy roast malt. Alcohol there. Syrupy a little bit. Too much peat. A strong beer. I?m boiling in this cauldron.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled: August 2015. Tasted Feb 14, 2016. Started with a ~3 or 4 oz pour. Very dark with a nice tan head (about 1/2 inch). Too dark for any visible carbonation. Nutty aroma, perhaps a bit of chocolate and raisin. Some vanilla. Very smooth initial taste, thick feel, stickiness on the tongue and throat in the aftertaste. Taste follows the aroma, nutty and dark fruits a bit past their prime. Alcohol is present in the taste, but not dominating (but it certainly hits you soon enough!). Semi-sweet. Very pleasant, but no bittering at all. Very, very smooth, thick, and mild. I consider the total lack of bittering to be a downgrade on what is otherwise an excellent stout.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Bear Trap, Grand Targhee, served way too cold, but warmed really nicely. Nice head and lacing. Roasty, chocolate and cherries with a touch of smoke. Delightful after a day on the slopes!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours minimal head on a black body.
The aroma is all the good things: coffee, milk, chocolate, licorice and a touch of smoke.
The taste is pleasantly easy. Roasted malt and caramel sweetness, a little coffee bitter.
The texture is thicker and silky.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 mL bottle The Bottle Shop At Tyler’s Taproom, Raleigh (August 2015 release-listed as 9.5% ABV). Dark brown/black pour with a creamy khaki head. Aroma of star anise, mild coffee, and faint floral hops. Rich taste of dark chocolate and espresso upfront with background notes of oak, vanilla, and booze. Hearty and almost silky mouthfeel with moderate warming. A great imperial stout!
