Bottle thanks to Craig. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. A big fruity nose. The flavor is candy sugar, some beet, banana, big fruity flavors, some heat. Pretty nice.

Golden, slight haze, off-white head. Aroma is perfumy and floral, light spice, dry crackerlike malt. Flavor is grainy-sweet malt, peppery phenols, perfumy notes, a touch of caramel malt, some lemon and a little touch of peach.

750 mL bottle of the 2011 edition poured into a tulip glass. The appearance is a hazy gold with a nice two-finger fluffy white head and excellent lacing. Aroma is Belgian yeast, black pepper, and spices. The taste is great. Flavors of Belgian yeast and clove with a nice tart finish. The high ABV is not noticeable at all. Excellent Belgian style ale.

750 ml bottle from Wine and Cheese Place. Glad I finally got around to this one. Picked it up a year ago not knowing how appropriate it would be upon our return to Cincy after a 90-day road trip today. Pours a hazy gold with a small white head that dissipates into a small ring. Aroma of sweet malts, mild spice, pears, candi sugar, and mild banana. Flavor of sweet malts, pears, mellow spices, apricots, candi sugar, dried banana, and clove. Medium-bodied, with a sweet mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Not an overly sweet tripel, maybe has mellowed a bit with a year on it. Good beer.

(bottle) Pours out a clear gold color with a fairly thin white head and good lacing. Aroma holds a nice array of scents, with aromas of pears, banana, stale sourdough bread, honey, and some faint vanilla. As it warms, the banana and honey scents become predominant, and a little bit of warming alcohol is detected. When cold, there was an off scent that was somewhat sour, but with warming the aroma really begins to round out and showcase the more doughy scents I was looking for from the yeast. The pale malt really shows up here well with further warming, and I begin to smell some angel food cake. The flavor is somewhat similar to the aroma, but not as complex, with an even pale malt sweetness showing up in the fore before yielding to mid flavors of floral honey, light peach and apricot, and a finish of stale bread with faint bitterness and lingering alcohol heat. Hints of spice are shown too. Mouthfeel is medium and carbonation is more toned down than most tripels I’ve tried. Overall this is a solid take on a tripel, and most of the elements that are present in its Belgian counterparts, are also present within this beer. Well done Grand Teton.

750ml bottle. 2011. cloudy gold beer with a small white head. robust nose of grapefruit, honey, vanilla cake, lemon meringue pie filling. flavor is lightly tart with citrus, pineapple and a grassy finish. warming alcohol presence. medium-full body. best tripel i’ve had in a long time.

This really seemed like a beer brewed to style. Yellow color. Soft, smooth, but simply. Moderate spice notes. Not as good as the 2010 Coming Home. (bottle at Ale Jail beer festival, September 2012)

Grand Teton Coming Home Holiday Ale 2011 - Golden appearance with enormous head and very impressive lacing. Aroma of tart green apples, alcohol, and a slight hint of spice. Taste - lots of acid and sour lemon at first, but apple, banana, and pear flavors shine through mid-palate. Bready malt lingers on the tongue afterward. Aggressive tripel - not great (I’m still waiting for a tripel to approach Corsendonk Agnus level), but enjoyable enough.

Bottle. Hazy golden yellwo straw color, massive white ice cream cone head, delicate lacing. Aroma of white pepper, nutmeg, dusty straw. Taste is spiced and slightly funky barnyard straw, hay, lemon peel. Like a spiced saison. Nice stuff.
