Howling Wolf Weisse Bier is an unfiltered Bavarian-style Hefeweizen. Brewed with a hearty amount of wheat, this Weissbier pours a light clouded golden color with a generous head. Gently hopped to balance the malt sweetness, Howling Wolf’s flavors and aromas are subtle with a hint of fruit and spice. At 5% alcohol by volume, this light-bodied ale is a refreshing session beer for any time of year.

Poured from bottle to pokal: Hazy golden pear with a wispy white head that fades out to a nice ring. The nose is very yeasty, crisp, sweet banana bread. Fresh smelling. I wish this bottle was fresher, but I can still get a good sense of what it once was - banana, clove, a little bubble gum. Easy drinking.

Thanks, James McBrewer! Tasted from bottle into standard pint glass. Poured a nice cloudy light amber color with full white foam, some lace. Very aromatic yeast, banana, apricot, some clove and black pepper, some mild malty aromas underneath. Flavor was very mild and balanced, not too sweet, not too bitter, notes of bread and caramel, biscuits with honey, lots more apricot. Light body, chalky/yeasty mouthfeel, very refreshing dry finish. A nice true-to-style Hefeweizen with some added fruitiness. Tasty.

Slightly hazy golden coloured body with a thin off-white head. Aroma of pale wheat, curacao and other orange and citrus fruits, coriander seed and a hint of bubble gum - very nice. Medium-bodied; Assertive wheatie and yeastie flavour at first with a herbal sweetness soon afterwards and some light spices noticeable. Aftertaste is mostly dry, showing some wheat, a little curacao and a hint of the alcohol. Overall, a nice very mild german wheat with some sweetness, but mostly a dry lingering flavour with some light spices too. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Tustin, California on 06-December-2011 for US$1.79 sampled at home in Washington on 14-March-2012 when Detroit Lost to Anaheim in hockey and it first hit 80degrees Farenheit in Washington - in early MARCH.

Bah, tons of off flavors in this wheat beer. Completely wrong. Some spice in there

~Light banana and clove with a slight tartness, low bubblegum ~Pours a hazy very light gold color with small quickly disappearing head. ~Good balance of banana, bubble gum and tart, light clove. Grainy. ~Medium light body, high CO2, refreshing feel. Sweet bready banana tart finish. ~Great balance. I wish one of the flavors had more dominance. Excellent brew for drinking all day.

Bottle. Pours lightly hazy dark gold to light copper with an average to small, fizzy and bubbly white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is heavy German yeast esters of banana with light clove notes, and wheat malt. Flavor is medium-light malt with heavy German yeast esters, light spices, hops and bitterness and a dry and spicy finish. Light body, no warmth, medium carbonation.

Six month bottle pours pale gold with effervescent carbonation. Smells of sweet malted wheat, a little grape and other fruitiness apparent. Taste is full on flavor with the carbonation making the sweet malt pop. There is a good fruit flavor that is not your standard banana and clove. Green grape is the most prominent and there is some clove and spice from the strong but good yeast, and a touch of hay like dryness from the hops. Being a fan of German wheat beers, this was a refreshing interpretation.

12 oz bottle purchased as a single at MDL in Overland Park, Kansas. Bottled on 10/28/11 according to the label. Pour is slight haze golden yellow with a one inch white head that falls quick. Aroma is banana, bubblegum, wheat, and grassy earthiness. Taste is big on the bubble gum banana sweetness up front, turning towards clove, then finishing with the wheat and a nice mineral. Palate is medium bodied, unfiltered mouth feel, lower carbonation, and the lingering yeast and mineral finish. Clean, fresh easy drinking beer.
